No idea where to put this - so it is randomly here in a game thread. Sorry, y'all.

M's make a big jump in the power rankings from 19 to 10. Still a ways to go, but it's better than being 19th.

. “It’s hard to hit it because of the dead ball here, but right and left aren’t that deep. So guess what? Those outfielders don’t play very deep, so now balls are hanging up and you’ve got outfielders that aren’t playing that deep because they’re not afraid of anything getting over their head. So you end up taking away more hits, and now you start to exacerbate the problem and it gets in guys’ heads
Are you saying shorten the fences so more balls go off the walls as doubles?
To me that seems the only logical step if the argument being made is that depth of the outfielders is hurting the ability to hit. I mean, they're not going to increase the length of the fences now.

If you ask me, I think 20% of this is the ballpark dynamics and 80% of this is mental. Which tells me they need to do a better job of getting guys in here that carry more of a can-do attitude.

Bret Boone set the MLB record for homers in a season by a 2B playing in the biggest ballpark MLB had ever seen. He hit .323/.355/.580/.935 at SafeCo in 2001... .298/.369/.520/.889 in 2003. John Olerud hit .285/.382/.495/.876 at SafeCo in 2001 and slugged 40 points higher than on the road. 38 year old Edgar Martinez hit .305/.425/.515/.920 in 2001 at SafeCo.

Then you have Richie Sexson, Nelson Cruz, and Robinson Cano who suffered no ill effects of hitting here.

I think guys just need to hit better and stop being so mentally weak. The dimensions of T-Mobile didn't lead to 15 K's last night.

There seems to be a model for a mariner player, guys that hit the ball hard. It's going to lead to strikeouts but also hopefully some runs

Who on this current team fits that model? "Some" strikeouts is an understatement.

Believe it or not, Ty France is the only Mariner in the top 50 of balls put in play at 95 MPH or more.

JRod K'd 66 times and walked 43 times in 2021 in the minors... he K'd 37 times and walked 29 times in 2022.

He's not supposed to be a high strike out hitter. Yet I believe the other night might be the first game all season where he didn't strike out. Why he's evolved into this free swinging bafoon is beyond me... it's not what he projected as.

The M's fucked up bad not trading for Juan Soto. That was their enormous mistake.
