Montes 474 absolute bomb. What a shot.
I watched hundreds of BPs at Safeco in the steroid era and never saw one clear the seats in center.

Re: No Labor Day doubleheaders anymore.

As for the slowness of the games, how could anybody be bored sitting through a long sunny day, watching a doubleheader with the 1961 hated New York Yankees, joking around with your buddies? We were never in a rush to get home, and afterwards, we waited until our Favorite guys came out of the locker...

Re: Recap of the past 10 months leading to missing the playoffs

Does anyone remember where Captain's post that compared Jerry to other GMs that have been at it 10+ seasons? Here is a list of every current MLB exectuive with at least 15 years as a GM/President of Baseball Operations. Brian Cashman (29 years — 6 World Series) Playoff Appearances: 22 Walt Jocketty...

Re: Apple Cup game thread

Obviously they are going to have to play better than that if they want to make any noise in the Big Ten. The good news is that it seems like their struggles were mostly things that they should be able to clean up rather than talent level issues. The biggest of those was the 12 Penalties for 130 Yard...

Re: Top 50 Mariners of all time

Answered my own question. I was thinking they were both primarily DH but Edgar played 64 games at 3B in 94 and Phelps played 55 Games at first base in 86 so its pretty much just positional adjustment. Phelps had a -1.8 dWAR and Edgar was at +.6.

Re: Top 50 Mariners of all time

I realize he never played a full season but how does a guy with a 145 OPS+ only amass 9.6 WAR in 6 seasons with the M's.
Look at his 1986 season compared to Edgars 94 season. What is the number in the formula that is keeping his WAR so low?

Re: Preseason thoughts

If you wanted to try and stash him on the practice squad, I really don't think there is much chance of anyone putting him on their active roster and if they did no big loss as far as I am concerned.

Re: PHI @ SEA early start time GT 8/26

How does Brian Woo manage a 1.08 Whip and a 4.10 ERA. Seems like those stats should correlate a little better. He is 12th in baseball in WHIP and 43rd in ERA. Nick Martinez is right behind him with a 1.10 Whip and has a 2.93 ERA. You have to go all the way down to Noah Cameron who is 32nd in WHIP be...
