M's Payroll, What They Have To Play With, How Much Will They Go, All That Crap... =)
Cots says the Mariners are at $70 million... (I believe MLB.com said that as well)

I believe I saw others sources saying as low as $50 million. Anyone really know where the M's are at? (Is it because we owe still for Robinson Cano? $20M?)
Lastly, I see the 2022 Luxury Tax Limit is at $210 million. How much do you think the M's are willing to spend in 2022???

They are at $50 if they don't spend another dime. My Guess is the end up around $107M

Yes. Add $57.TommyGun1971 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 6:30 pmAre you guessing they'll spend $107M? Or their payroll will be at $107 at the end of the offseason? I sure hope the former...![]()

There are different ways of calculating payroll. For example, say a player signs a 3 year contract, paying them $5M, $10M, $15M in 2022 to 2024, respectively.
Now the Lux Tax calculation would be $10M for 2022, 2023, 2024. The luxury tax payroll also includes a lump sum added to the payroll for player benefits, showing as $16M on the Cot's spreadsheet for 2022. Additionally, the luxury tax includes the 40 man roster players, so they add the minor leaguers salaries.
I hope they have a luxury tax payroll of $165 M, or more.

I'm hoping for the $130 million range. Still $15 million below MLB average but you can get some pretty good players if you spend, $80 million on the high end if Darren is correct, or even $60 million if Cots is correct. Likely, because it's the M's, we'll end up with middling players who will be touted as the second coming of Babe Ruth and Don Drysdale for about $30 million.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of too. Hard to get your hopes of high, if you've followed them since day one...ddraig wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 8:33 pmI'm hoping for the $130 million range. Was on the third level behind home plate for the first game in the Kingdome.
