Re: 4/25 Game Thread - Gilbert vs Quantrill
Totally lopsided edge in the pitching matchup and the gutless Marlins get handed a victory that they did absolutely nothing to earn. Since they hurt Gilbert, we'd better deliver some payback tomorrow per the unwritten rules of baseball.

Well said. Especially since it has been 1-2 games we have been shy of the playoffs the past 2 seasons. 1 game could mean the difference between playing in October or not.

Last seasoni i believe the mariners used their bullpen the least in MLB, this season they are second most used, that seems like quite a difference. If the bullpen gets out of kilter it could mean losing more than one game, it can affect a series of games.

Just a horrible year for the "best" rotation in baseball.

Of course but the quality of pitching even when healthy has declined significantlySibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 5:00 pmThe last two years with regard to the health of the starting pitchers was more of an anomaly. Those days are over.

Millikin called me an "edgy contrarian" for saying our pitching staff was barely above average.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 8:08 pmOf course but the quality of pitching even when healthy has declined significantlySibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 5:00 pmThe last two years with regard to the health of the starting pitchers was more of an anomaly. Even after I pointed out where their splits were at last season-
Interesting thread to revisit now.. Maybe people are more willing to have that conversation.Home ERA: 2.78 (#1 in MLB)
Away ERA: 4.36 (#20 in MLB)

Alright, you're clearly not a mathematician.
1st at home and 20th on the road isn't "barely better than average," unless being top-10 is barely better than average. They're in the fat part of the bell-curve, I'll give you that.
In any case, 10th is more than good enough if the Mariners keep up a 4.5 run average on offense.
