From 4-2 to 4-25 before the 4 homer game Geno was last in the majors among 3B's with -0.5 fWAR.
He slashed .139/.253/.236/.489 with just 1 homer.
It's cool that Geno tore the cover off the ball for 5 straight games to start the year and then had the 4-homer game... but he goes through a lot of stretches of just being flat unplayable.

How much different would everyone’s opinion be if we had this year’s Polauncho, instead of last year’s Pasucko?Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 3:10 amI agree.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2025 3:05 amThe real problem with the Suarez trade was they did it to save money and cut down on strikeouts. They ended up spending that money on Polonco and Urias who were just as bad, and they still lead the league in strikeouts.
They shuffled the deck a bit and just ended up with a worse hand.
But lets say they DFA Geno on July 1 which IMO was a very real possibility. The guy was slashing .196/.279/.312/.591 with a 30% K rate. Everyone and their mom would have been calling for Geno to be let go.
This insane discourse about Geno wouldn't have existed and everyone would be questioning why they didn't shore up the situation at 3B given Geno's clear signs of decline.
