Cannot believe Solano wasn't DFAd today.

Entering Tuesday, Mariners starters ranked 24th in baseball with 113 1/3 innings, 18th in ERA at 4.13, 22nd in WHIP at 1.35, and 27th in pitches per inning (17.1). That’s way off the paces from last year when M’s starters led MLB in innings pitched (942 2/3), ERA (3.38), WHIP (1.03), and lowest pitches per inning (15.31).
Little bit old, the thing being they are in first place without the pitching

As big a revelation as it is them winning without their pitching, it's a revelation doing it without Julio. He was the one and only bat that was supposed to carry the team. And really he's the one guy not contributing, I'm not bothering about Solano and Rowdy. And to me this is how a team functions. It's not a lineup of steady Eddies, it's guys taking turns, some guys hitting others struggling. But what you really need are guys that can go on a rip, put the team on their back for awhile, climb aboard. Who else was supposed to be able to do that other than Julio, out of nowhere steps up Polanco. And cal too but Polanco is the revelation.

What's he's done is taken the pressure of Julio, Julio doesn't have to feel like he needs to win ballgames. Hopefully he can relax and get his shit in order. He's taken the pressure off of Solano too but that's considered hopeless. So how long can Polanco be Edgar Martinez, Julio needs to be able to step up once Polanco cools off.

Crawford is heating up, it's interesting, it's a process. First comes the obp. Guys quit swinging at the junk pitches, they become harder to get out. The batting average comes up. Then comes the power when they start really driving pitches.i think you can see that with Crawford. And that gets me to Garver. I just looked at his numbers. He's sporting a .358 obp, to me thats significant, says he's quit swinging at the junk he swung at last season. He's brought his batting average up, the next step would be driving baseballs. Wouldn't that be something, Garver managed to be a power hitter again. Polanco cools off but Julio and Garver step up. That's what it takes, guys taking turns.

I wonder if the Mariners would trade Julio? Something tells me that Jerry DiPoto would do it. Obviously, it's an ownership-level decision, but I could see Jerry making that case to Stanton and then making the deal. It's probably an offseason move though.

I think there's a better chance that Jerry Dipoto comes out as a woman.

I don't think it's a crazy idea personally, but they want Julio as the face of the franchise. They love him more than they even love JP. I think.

Jorge Polanco wins the AL Player of the Week, the 1st time the Mariners have had consecutive winners since Alex Rodriguez/Ken Griffey Jr. in 1998.

I think the perception could change, maybe is changing. He's got the big boy salary and yeah, face of the franchise and all that. But some of that starts to look very fake and forced if the player doesn't live up to the hype. Right now, here, among us more serious type fans, the cynicism is starting to set in, and I don't think it's hard to imagine that same feeling starting to set in with the front office. I'm picturing a lot of eye rolls when they talk about the franchise superstar, wondering if this is it? Is this all we're getting?

I know, I know. Less than a zero chance. It is not possible, but still 100.
