WILDCARD PICKS
> All players put back into one list based on OGW Rankings
> 10th seed maoling gets 2 top remaining players, 9th seed baller gets the next 2 and so on. Bil gets the final wildcards, sorry mate
Here are the allocated players
maoling; Robert MacIntyre & Corey Conners
baller; Sungjae Im & Ben Griffin
Seattle or Bust; J.J. Spaun & Aaron Rai
TLO Idaho; Andrew Novak & J.T. Poston
desbcoach; Taylor Pendrith & Lucas Glover
rockycola; Nick Taylor & Byeong Hun An
Walla Walla Dawg II; Max Greyserman & Stephan Jaeger
Juliooooo; Tom Hoge & Mackenzie Hughes
mostonmike; Jhonattan Vegas & Nicolas Echavarria
D-train; Davis Thompson & Nick Dunlap
Bil522; Matthew McCarty & Joe Highsmith
A lot of copy-and-pasting has gone into sorting out these wildcards using the rankings from 19th May when the cut-off for qualification was made. It is quite possible this has led to someone called Kim or otherwise being missed out of the contest. No corruption or deception is intended, and it will have to be "tough titties" if it has occurred in error.
TOURNAMENT RULES
> Your score is taken from your best 3 performing players.
> If you don't get 3 players through to the weekend, you will allocated replacements from the bottom of the leaderboard in order of ranking i.e. lowest seed gets the lowest placed unique player from the leaderboard in the order its displayed (for example somebody in 60th spot or tied 60th as long as that player is not already in our player lists)
> Playoff strokes do not count, unless a unique situation occurs where we are tied at the top of our own leaderboard and the play-off can be used as a tie-break.
> If there is a tie at any other point, the protagonist with the highest scoring player wins - countback will go to 2nd and 3rd highest scoring player. The scoreboard will sort this tie-breaker out automatically throughout the tournament.
SCOREBOARD sponsored by Yahoo
Great News, them horrible bastards at ESPN with their constant tweaking of their leaderboard has led to me choosing Yahoo (link ) as our Leaderboard Partner for this contest and hope to sign a 3 year contract if it works better.
So my leaderboard is already working, your players are on there and it should be good from the very first stroke of the day at around 4am on the West Coast, fingers crossed.

GOOD LUCK PROTAGONISTS.

That don't make no damn sense to me.mostonmike wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 3:30 pmProof of the Birthday problem
If there are 23 people in a group, the chances of two people sharing a birthday are more than 50%
Sincerely,
Everyone who ever went to WSU
*Also, many thanks for putting together these tournament pools. I don't much understand how this one works either, but I am all in lol. I sent DT the $500 entry fee like he asked for.

Its something to do with a counter-intuitive feeling that you just described. It's because the odds are not 23/366 as you might think at first glance. Its because you are matching each of the 23 people with the 22 other people's birthdays - and that creates 253 pairs of birthdays - and that makes it more likely than not that there is one matching pair.maoling wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 12:02 amThat don't make no damn sense to me.mostonmike wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 3:30 pmProof of the Birthday problem

Imagine (instead of a birthday) you ask 23 people to pick a card from a random pile of 365 words and you replace the card in the pile after each pick. After 23 picks, the chances that two have picked the same word is more than 50%. That seems to make more sense. Its the 365 days that causes a paradox in thinking.
By the time you reach 50 people, the probability is 97% which is almost inevitable that two people match - which also makes more sense.
* As for the competition, complicated set up but I have the feeling everyone will love this format as I'm confident everyone will be within 10 shots and at least 5 will be in contention on Sunday. Then again what do I know - Darren's took about $20,000 off me in competition fees as he blames the exchange rate for making me pay $2,000 per contest.

Fuming with Yahoo. Seems they only put a player on the leaderboard when they are underway. Not sure of a quick fix for this one....

I went with AZ to show some diversity. And a temp fix on scoreboard is in place. The scores now look accurate but glitches on other parts of the board.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 12:45 pmMM, you can put down my location as either WA or AZ.
EDIT: scoreboard now fully functioning. Today I have learned VLOOKUP (I already knew lookup), and the IFERROR function. IFERROR is a really good one, I wish I had known about that beforehand - I am big fan now of IFERROR.

Once upon a time I worked with actuaries, they’d always roll their eyes when I used VLookup as they preferred XLookup.
Don’t ask me why, as I have no clue what the difference is.

James Nicholas has a really good Youtube channel. Korn Ferry Tour player who documents the whole event.
He qualified for the KF through Q School this past year. Won his sectional qualifier by a lot.
