This franchise doesn't care, so why should the players? It's their job, and it is painfully obvious, and has been for many MANY years, that winning isn't the objective. So why should it be the objective of the employees? It almost doesn't matter who the ownership is, it must be the damn city. Jeff Nelson complained about it and got traded, Pinella complained about it and got traded, Cal complained about it and had to give a public apology. DB brought that up too. I guess it's pretty sad commentary on the lack of passion for achieving excellence by members of this team when that incident is the only example of a player getting frustrated with failure from recent times.
This organization is fine being mediocre and profitable. So why shouldn't the guys that play for the organization?
