DB brought that up too. I guess it's pretty sad commentary on the lack of passion for achieving excellence by members of this team when that incident is the only example of a player getting frustrated with failure from recent times.
This franchise doesn't care, so why should the players? It's their job, and it is painfully obvious, and has been for many MANY years, that winning isn't the objective. So why should it be the objective of the employees? It almost doesn't matter who the ownership is, it must be the damn city. Jeff Nelson complained about it and got traded, Pinella complained about it and got traded, Cal complained about it and had to give a public apology. We've had a few different managers just up and quit.

This organization is fine being mediocre and profitable. So why shouldn't the guys that play for the organization?

I've never seen so many players on one team that consistently perform well below expectations and seem utterly complacent about it as i have with the past 3 or 4 Mariner teams. There is a sickness in their mentality.

Honestly if i were a member of the team i wouldn't be participating in "happy dances" after every win in a season where the team is failing to do anything special. And if there was a directive coming from the ownership group that i must participate i would let as many members of the media know about it as possible.

How are the Mariners favored to win given that this is one of the best pitchers statistically that they've faced in the last 3 weeks?

Who woulda thunk that this team, as it was constructed, would actually win more than 89 games? You there. In the back. Jerry, put your hand down!

The organization has been compared to the MLB AAAA team for decades. They coach players up and then trade them for scrubs and sign has beens. The Mariner Way! "We're number 19! We're number 19! We're number 19!" Anyone thinking Cal will be here after 2027 is dreaming!
