Listening to Salk excuse this this morning was sickening. He may be right, it may be that the Sox had zero interest in letting Devers go to an AL team, but that entire section of the show was dedicated to who might be available. And? It's not much. Which to me is the GIANT flaw in their fucking Draft, Develop and Trade philosophy. The TRADE part needs another party to not only have someone available, but be willing to work with you.

To me? That is exactly why they do it. The built in excuse "well, we tried, but we just couldn't work out the right trade, so we settled for this". EVERYONE is in playoff contention but the teams that have no one that is worth trading for. Duh, that is what happens when that many teams make the playoffs.

Part of that pitching staff is Robbie Ray, who's 8-1 with 2.55 era. I believe I get an, I told you so. I predicted he'd live up to his contract. Fans and state-run media then helped them move the goal post and change the narrative with the built-in excuses...



Now... when they don't pull off any trades of significance... Hollander gets out there and says some BS about how there have to be 2 players in trade talks and how other teams weren't operating in good faith in their offers.

Then the fans?

"Oh... well... Jerry and Justin tried!!! But other teams have to like what you offer."

Then you see trades that were basically Logan Evans and comp pick for Josh Naylor... the whole narrative falls on it's face. But fans will lap up the Jerry and Justin milk and just continue to help them move the goal post.

Their team ops is like.680, and they have a tough time signing free agents, but they are in that western division race. The dodgers pitching has sucked. Buster Posey is the man. It's interesting, they canned what's his name and took an old school approach, it's really been a change in philosophy. There's pressure there, unbelievable

Not really. If I was Boston I wouldn't want to trade in in the AL and end up watching that team make the playoffs every year. Inter League wouldn't have much impact, in my opinion. Still? If the offer for Devers was good enough? They wouldn't care, but the rumor is that they weren't interested in trading him inside the division. Of course? That could be some bullshit being spewed around here to take the heat off of the Mariner FO.

Not really. If I was Boston I wouldn't want to trade in in the AL and end up watching that team make the playoffs every year. Inter League wouldn't have much impact, in my opinion. Still?
