Who needs a great hitter?

Does he even defense bro?

It's not like we need a 3B, a 1B and a DH....
Listening to Salk excuse this this morning was sickening. He may be right, it may be that the Sox had zero interest in letting Devers go to an AL team, but that entire section of the show was dedicated to who might be available. And? It's not much. Which to me is the GIANT flaw in their fucking Draft, Develop and Trade philosophy. The TRADE part needs another party to not only have someone available, but be willing to work with you.

To me? That is exactly why they do it. The built in excuse "well, we tried, but we just couldn't work out the right trade, so we settled for this". EVERYONE is in playoff contention but the teams that have no one that is worth trading for. Duh, that is what happens when that many teams make the playoffs.

Part of that pitching staff is Robbie Ray, who's 8-1 with 2.55 era. I believe I get an, I told you so. I predicted he'd live up to his contract. Guys tend to come back stronger from TJ surgery.Trading it for Hanigers was dumb. I've been pretty adamant about that. Sorry but that trade has always seemed dumb to me
I was harping on that big-time too. Trading him for a player that everyone knew was over the hill. So idiotic. If we'd just kept Ray we'd be right there with the Asstros right now.

The DDT formula was formulated as a giant gaslight a few years back when they failed to land anything significant in free agency.

"Oh... we didn't do our jobs... we'll just tell the fans and state-run media that our strategy is now to draft, develop, and trade... they'll love that and get off our backs because it sounds like we're smart and know what we're doing!"

Fans and state-run media then helped them move the goal post and change the narrative with the built-in excuses...

Now... when they don't pull off any trades of significance... Hollander gets out there and says some BS about how there have to be 2 players in trade talks and how other teams weren't operating in good faith in their offers.

Then the fans?

"Oh... well... Jerry and Justin tried!!! But other teams have to like what you offer."

Then you see trades that were basically Logan Evans and comp pick for Josh Naylor... the whole narrative falls on it's face. But fans will lap up the Jerry and Justin milk and just continue to help them move the goal post.

Just wow, amazing...screw Boston, this is about the giants, what an impressive win now trade. The Giants have pitching but no offense. Their team ops is like.680, and they have a tough time signing free agents, but they are in that western division race. The dodgers pitching has sucked. The one difference with the mariners is the giants are older

Buster Posey is the man. It's interesting, they canned what's his name and took an old school approach, it's really been a change in philosophy. There's pressure there, unbelievable
"I think there's pressure to put this team in a position to win ball games because, as you mentioned, the pitching staff is really good and I believe that's going to continue through the year," Giants POBO Buster Posey said a few weeks ago on Giants Talk. "Yeah, I think there's urgency from everybody to provide these guys with run support."
I guess that's the difference between having a MVP future Hall of Fame catcher versus a s***** relief pitcher as your head of baseball operations
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Kraken hired a HOF center and he's been screwing the pooch for four years. Maybe they should have hired a career backup goalie.

That would have been a great argument 20 years ago before inter league play but now it's just f****** ridiculous

We need to quit making excuses and start making plays. The top tier teams go out and get what they need. Unfortunately we have to live with the fact we are not top tier.

Not really. If I was Boston I wouldn't want to trade in in the AL and end up watching that team make the playoffs every year. Inter League wouldn't have much impact, in my opinion. Still? If the offer for Devers was good enough? They wouldn't care, but the rumor is that they weren't interested in trading him inside the division. Of course? That could be some bullshit being spewed around here to take the heat off of the Mariner FO.

There's no heat on the front office right now.
