Thinking of prospects and 2nd base specifically, is there any place for Ryan Bliss on the Mariners anymore? Does he have a future with the M's?

Young is somewhat entrenched but I don't think he's won the job as much as he's still auditioning for it. Cole is still growing up in MLB with the Mariners; he'll be 22 at the end of July. I think Dipoto is pleased with how he is doing thus far in his first 23 MLB games.

Bliss will be 26 at the end of December. He is still classified as a rookie, so is he still a prospect?

We've talked about what to do when Robles returns and most are thinking he'll still have the RF spot held for him.
What of Bliss? He seems to be forgotten, out of sight, out of mind.

From MLBTR article:
By Darragh McDonald | April 10, 2025 at 2:35pm CDT

The Mariners today provided an update on infielder Ryan Bliss, who was placed on the 10-day injured list yesterday with a torn left biceps. Today’s announcement relays that an MRI confirmed the severity of the tear and the need for surgery, with an expected recovery timeline of four to five months.

It’s obviously a frustrating development for Bliss and the club. It’s unclear if that timeline includes an eventual rehab assignment or if it will take that long just to begin rehabbing. Either way, he will miss the majority of the campaign even in a best-case scenario and it seems possible that he won’t return in 2025 at all.
He's young. He'll have spring training next year to make his case, either for the Mariners or some other team if he's traded.

We're only a few weeks away from the draft. Who is the guy we take at 3?

My bet is what LH pitcher is available between Arnold, Doyle and Anderson. I prefer Anderson from what I have read. Maybe they look at prep, star Hernandez I believe but RH preps that high are huge gamble as many haven’t succeeded. This one may be diffferemt

They've taken a number of highschool kids lately it seems, they also have had pretty good luck with their international signings which tend to be young

I have read an article that says that at least 1 of the 3 top lefties will be pitching in the big leagues this year....I'll see if I can dig it up

I think it was Cade Anderson but M’s have a tendency to shutdown after draft on pitchers

Thought they've always been connected to a position player

I think Kade Anderson will go #1 to the Nationals. The Angels at #2 could go with Liam Doyle and bring him straight to the majors, maybe in the bullpen. Doyle's so max effort he just really scares me. It's hard to imagine him not blowing out his arm in the near future.

And so at #3, the Mariners will have the world at their feet, possibly including Ethan Holliday. But it isn't really clear that Holliday stands out from the pack, so the M's may not be on him. My guess is they sign someone overslot to save money and sign guys farther down in the draft.

ESPN latest mock, I think dipoto has the balls to take Hernandez. That would indicate little concern with his employment
3. Seattle Mariners
Jamie Arnold, LHP, Florida State
Top 150 rank: 1

The Mariners seem to be zeroed in on pitching with Anderson and Arnold being the best fits for them, along with high school pitcher Seth Hernandez if they can stomach taking a prep right-hander this high. In this scenario, I think they just take Arnold. Oregon State shortstop Aiva Arquette is still being scouted for this pick and I've heard Ike Irish and JoJo Parker brought up, but they seem to be on the outside looking in right now

Mock drafts have them connected to prep pitcher or college LH, IMO they have a shitload of prospects in minor that are position players and can use another touted pitcher for balance.
