9/2/25 GT: A Rivas A Rivas Andale Andale!
What the hell has gotten into Rivas? He never even hit the ball to the co-ed line in a Mariner uniform, went to Tacoma, hit ten bombs, and then in his first AB last night, KA-BOOM! He'd better be in the lineup over Cole Young who appears to have lost all interest in being a good hitter.
Man, what the hell is WRONG with these guys? A great roster playing shitty baseball almost every day. Shitty hitting. Shitty pitching. Picked off second base two days in a row.
It's shocking that we still hold the third wild card spot, and that may not be a bad thing because we'd play the Asstros in the first round of the playoffs and they've got their own issues.
Lineups to follow.

Yes, he has lost all interest in hitting and staying in the big leagues where he could make millions. Yeah, no one wants that.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 4:47 amWhat the hell has gotten into Rivas? well, he wrote "appears", the appearance of, the reality of course being he is choking like heck trying overly hard. That being one of the great ironies, you aren't supposed to think about it too much. I appreciate his struggling being brought up, this is where I get that sort of informationBil522 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 5:47 amYes, he has lost all interest in hitting and staying in the big leagues where he could make millions. so looking at Young...all I can say is, YIKES! The guy has in fact lost all interest in hitting a baseball. This brings me to Ben Williamson, I have been thinking maybe i will argue his being their 3rd baseman next season. Yeah, no power at all but the guy does actually hit, it looks like clockwork. From april to july it was .250 a month, it doesn't waver, none of the huge slump BS. And there is the elite defense that should be consistent. The guy is very consistent. What I am getting at is he's good for 2 war, but not only that I'd say you can write it in ink. Even Gino, pay him what, $10 mil? And its quite possible he crashes and burns. Williamson would be a very budget friendly 2 war that would also be reliable. Take the savings and invest it in a veteran infielder for where ever, SS, 2nd, 1st.

Maybe just play Williamson at 2nd? Young has hit the wall.

Mike Salk brought up some stat indicating that the Mariners are #2 in avg games started by regulars in the lineup. Cal, Julio, JP, Randy, and Geno all with 135 games starting in the field so far this season. He concluded from this that the lineup is wearing down, especially Cal because of the rigors of catching. I guess Donnie B. was all over that in a post a few days ago. If it's true then, do Wilson and Dipoto deserve some blame for not giving them more days off?

this is Cal's pace, he has played 145, 153, and this season he's at 135 games. I don't think he wants more days off, but at the same time he has to wear down. Its not like a complaint, just a fact. Should the starters have gotten more time off? I don't know, seems the complaint here is they take too much time off. They are pussies if they can't play every game of the season, heck Cal Ripken jr managed to do itSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 6:55 pmMike Salk brought up some stat indicating that the Mariners are #2 in avg games started by regulars in the lineup. Polanco only needs 16 plate appearances to hit his vesting option.
Hopefully they can pencil him in as starting 2B and get a better bat at DH. And 3B.

Cal has only caught 104 games this season while DHing in 31 games. He's gotten a lot of time off.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 02, 2025 7:17 pmthis is Cal's pace, he has played 145, 153, and this season he's at 135 games.
