Woo update is he respinded well to treatment and will throw this week but will not pitch again in regular season

https://sports.mynorthwest.com/mlb/seat ... er/1823172
actually he says that
Hollander said the team is taking it day by day, but “would anticipate” Woo ramping up again toward the end of the week.

“Whether that means pitching in a game or just throwing sort of a get-after-it bullpen, we’ll see,” Hollander said. “But again, doing really well and don’t really want to go beyond (that).”

Its good to rest him but you also don't want him to get rusty. If he doesn't pitch again in the regular season that would make it 15 days between starts. I'd at least like to get him out there and throw 2 or 3 innings at some point before the season ends.

Would that actually be better than a simulated game? I am often confused by the talk of too much rest for a Pitcher. Do they have to sit on their ass the entire time if they aren't in a game? LOL

Anybody heard who is starting tonight. All of the websites still say undecided. If they aren't going to pitch Woo it seems like they should put him on the 10 day IL retroactively and get another arm up here.

It is 15 day IL and they don’t want him out into playoffs game 1

MLB lineups have Hancock as the starter for tonight.

Hollander said there are no plans to put Woo on the injured list. If Woo were added to the IL, he would have to serve a full 15-day stint, which would stretch into the postseason. The Mariners have six regular-season games left.

"At this time of the year, we're not blind to the context of what 15 days means," Hollander said. "But he's also doing really well, and we don't think he'll need 15 days. So, even if we were in June, I don't think he would need IL placement right now."

If they felt like he needed to be built back up, he might make a great 3 inning reliever.

Seattle Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said Sunday there is “a good deal of optimism” that Woo will be a part of the club’s rotation for their first playoff series, which will start at home with Game 1 on Saturday.

“Yesterday, the highlight of my day was walking in the training room and he had a smile and said, ‘I felt great,'” Dipoto said. “So that’s good for me, and the trainers weren’t particularly concerned. … He is a huge part of what we do, so pretty important that he’s there.”
