Does anyone think Moncada will have a decent season this year? His last good season was 2021 and then he underperformed in 2022 and it looks like mostly injuries since then. I remember reading a few years ago that he was more interested in his music career than playing baseball.

I think he's the type of guy you plop in front of Williamson, jist so Williamson's not your starter.

When Moncada's been on the field his bat has been about as productive as Suarez and Donovan.

He's available for next to nothing.

I think he'll have a decent year compared to some 3B, including Williamson. And Geno's a ticking timebomb.

Moncada's basically a poor man's Geno, and he's going to be 31 to Geno's 35.

I think he'll sign somewhere for more than $5 million and I doubt the Mariners are willing to go that high. I hope Suarez signs somewhere else. I'll take Williamson's glove.

Fair enough.

I'd take Williamsons glove if it also came with a bat. Unfortunately.... it doesn't.

Problem is you don't know he doesn't have a bat because you are basing everything you believe on 1 partial season of his baseball career....which was his 2nd full professional season. You are also using an antiquated belief that 3b is a power position. How about just building the best lineup you can regardless of how much power one has? If you have value that helps the team more than anyone else then you stay. If you don't then you are not playing for the MLB club at the current time but they have the right to bring you back when they feel you will bring value to the club.

He put up 0.4 fWAR in over half a season. If that is the best value you can put in the lineup at 3B then you F-d up the off season and your Farm system sucks. Guessing they will rush Emerson up if he has a hot ST and Ben will go back to AAA.

3B not being a power position any longer is even more reason to get a bat that was 20% better than average the past two seasons (Moncada) instead of one that did absolutely nothing (Williamson).

Maybe he does have a bat. But until he packs it with him when he comes to Seattle, he wouldn't even factor into my 2026 opening day thoughts.

He's the kind of guy that can come prove he belongs when someone gets injured, not the type of guy you roll out the red carpet as your starting 3B after how poorly he performed.

If you're "building the best lineup", you wouldn't have Williamson anywhere near it.
