You know Richie Sexson get a bad rap but he played pretty well for the M's in '05 and '06...too bad he signed a 4yr deal.

Where are Orlando Mercado, Johnny Moses and Lenny Randle - how could they be left out? and Bobby Ayala of course!
Mercado is 64 yo put up -3.0 WAR in 8 seasons and had a .541 career OPS. lol
I've only been in person to a handful of Mariner games, in one of which i witnessed Mercado hit a triple. I thought for sure that i had to be witnessing history, but lo and behold, just looked it up, he had 4 of them in his illustrious career. Only 7 dingers, but 4 triples!

Funny thing about Ayala is that even at his worst in 1998, Norm Charlton was worse in 1997 and might have had the worst season for a relief pitcher in Mariners history although the worst WAR belonged to 1980 Byron McLaughlin.

Also, while Mercado and Moses might well have been our worst catcher and outfielder who played in at least 100 games for us, the infield spot has to go to Pete O'Brien.
i just wrote how in one of the few games I've been to, got to see Mercado hit a triple. Oddly enough, in another I saw Ayala come in with no outs and bases loaded and retire the side without any runs to get the save (i think, dont really recall the team outcome). He had to be somewhat decent to begin with in order for his blatant failures to be so notable, right?

I agree, he also got a bad rap because like Jrod he'd heat up later in the season. I've never had a problem with a guy putting his numbers up in the second half. The team needs to be good enough for it to matter

Agreed.

Sexson had a 144 wRC+ in 2005 (44% above league average production) and a 117 in 2006 before falling apart from big man syndrome.

The great Ichiro had a 106 wRC+ both years while taking up a power position.

I attended all 3 games in which Bud Bulling hit his 3 career home runs in 1981/1982...and I probably attended about 10 games total over those 2 seasons.

They not only have nominees who played one season with the Mariners, but nominees who played PART of one season, the worst probably being Andy Benes who is nominated for his 12 starts in 1995 in which his ERA was 5.86 and his WHIP was 1.667

Man, 50 players was too many, I got to the point where I had to vote for guys like Dave Henderson and Mike Moore, who were decent but not guys who come to mind when you think "Best Of".
