Donovan is going to play 3B so he will easily exceed Ben and Geno. We will see how close Cole can get to 2025 Jorge. That is were the shortfall will be but maybe Cole + Donovan can approximately equal Jorge + Ben + Geno...

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just add a one damn good hitter one of these off seasons???

Yeah, last year Donovan Solano was one of the guys to cross our fingers about.

"Well maybe Donovan Solano and Mitch Garver will..."

Ridiculous.

Brendan Donovan and Rob freakin' Refsnyder are just this year's version of slop.

The reason losing Polanco is a problem imo is he had the 4th highest OPS on the team and everyone else near him in OPS is a strong regression candidate imo.

We didn't add any actual bats to a team that needed them.

Because we had minimal open roster spots, and handed them to big ol' sissies.

That's not me saying, "We should've kept Polanco!"

No. We just didn't replace him with an as-good or better bat. It's a downgrade.

Naylor is definitely a regression candidate. He played out of his mind for us. 26% of his career WAR came in those two months. His career debuted in 2019.

By all accounts Donovan was sought after. This wasn't Dipoto dumpster diving. I think it should be noted he landed that trade against some competition including the Astros.
"In another sign that the Houston Astros are trying to lessen their infield surplus, the team had serious discussions about a three-way trade in which they would have sent Isaac Paredes to Boston and acquired utilityman Brendan Donovan," Rome and Rosenthal wrote. "Donovan ultimately went from the St. Louis Cardinals to the Astros’ American League West rivals, the Seattle Mariners. The Red Sox, too, were shut out. Not only did they fail to land Paredes in the three-team deal, but a parallel attempt to acquire Donovan also sputtered, people familiar with the conversations said

Here, you'll like this, a fan piece on Dave Cameron and what he brings to the Mariners. Seems he was behind creating the Rays interest in Williamson to put together the three way trade

So at least we'll know who's to blame.

Probably the worst hire the Mariners ever made. Dave Cameron is like an even more bitchy Shannon Drayer.

As long as people are ok with another JP Crawford, they won't be disappointed with Donovan.

In my opinion, he's been sold to the fans as a bigger piece than that.

If fans were told when Donovan was acquired that he profiles as a JP Crawford-level bat, I think we would've heard collective groans.

But people see that OPS that's 40 points higher than JP's and ignore everything they know about T-Mobile and think it'll just transfer over.

Not this guy. I even expect an initial slump that makes his first year drag, like Jorge Polanco did, and like most players who come to Seattle do.

Again, I hope you guys are right! But I strongly doubt it.

Believe polancos problem was health, a sore knee

Yeah, which we found out about near the end of the season.

Convenient excuse imo. I've been battling this injury...

But, he did come back stronger than ever, so who knows.

Is JP Crawford level production good enough from Donovan?

That's the question imo. Because JP level production is the UP scenario, imo. That would be his production straight across with T-Mobile as his Home park, imo.

If he slumps, we're probably looking up at a .700 OPS.
