Re: Julio
He was way overhyped, sold to us as the next KGJ. And he appeared to have the talent and all the tools. But mentally he just doesn't have what it takes to maintain a high level of performance.

Re: Julio
He seems to me to have lived up to his hype better than Ackley or Kelenic. I think he's done s pretty good job of it actually. He's not Junior, but he is the best CF in baseball currently. Be nice if he'd evolve into an even better player. But I don't feel disappointed with what we have. Think about Beltre, he seemed pretty disappointing but evolved into a first ballot HOFer. I see room for improvement with Julio, I also feel it could happen

Re: Julio
This Statement puzzles me. It seems to me that He has already lived up to it. Which of the 5 tools has he not displayed?
Power: He has 112 Career Home Runs. 18th in baseball over that span.
Average: .272 career Average is 27 points above league average.
Speed: 116 Career Stolen Bases, 8th in baseball over that span.
Glove: Defensive metrics put him well above average
Arm: Not really much to quantify this but Seems to have a strong arm when I watch him.
Perhaps what you meant to say is that he wont reach his MVP potential. Which is a fair statement.

Re: Julio
I wonder if People were wondering if Griffey was going to live up to his 5 tool potential in 1993?

Re: Julio
It's similar to the numbers I posted comparing him to Barry Bonds seems to me. Yeah, he's a more patient hitter and he's Mike Trout. But he's not, I just don't attribute that to a failure in his character. I see it as the kind of hitter he is

Re: Julio
I think it was much more the eye test that favored Junior. You didn't see him taking stupid approaches to ABs, doing stupid things on the bases, or laughing after a critical strikeout.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2026 3:58 pmI wonder if People were wondering if Griffey was going to live up to his 5 tool potential in 1993?
