Trade Deadline 1.0

Ok so since no one has posted a thread on this yet I guess I'll get it started here. We all hear the names floated about for possible deadline acquisitions. We know where our needs lye: Pen & RH bench bat. We've already gone over some of the names floated for potential RH bats & all make varying degrees of sense. I have my preferences as do others but I wanna get into the other piece that hasn't been talked about as much: potential bullpen pieces, more importantly, high leverage arms. You wanna create an alleged "super" pen theres only so many ways you can go about it so without further ado lets run down some potential albeit not often talked about backend pieces to mix in with the rest of those high leverage arms.

Obvious name here: Aroldis

Now we all know dumbasses at certain newspaper publications have stated Seattle refuses to go a certain direction with certain players. To me that just screamed speculation on his part. Everyone knows the game plan here. Get to your 1st world series in franchise history. What better way to build an elite juggernaut backend then with the hardest throwing lefty I can think of. I just cannot imagine a backend that featured Bazardo in the 7th, Munoz in the 8th, & Chapman in the 9th or vice versa. Again no reason not to target him. If alls it took was a Luke Stevenson plus maybe another cheap throw in or 2 your all over that but we don't even know what Bostons asking price would be for 3 months of him. Again I know Jerry isn't the brightest bulb in the house but I gotta figure if he's on the cusp of getting to his first world series, he will do whatever it takes to add that final bullpen piece. If not he is some next level stupid.

Now here come the rest of the names being floated:

-Anthony Bender ; Marlins

-Garrett Whitlock : Red Sox

-Luke Weaver/Devin Williams ; Mets

Not like it's a huge dropoff from Aroldis & all offer something when it comes to late inning heroics. I especially like Bender & his nasty sweeper. Holy criminey what a pitch. Now the question becomes A)are the Marlins still consider themselves in it & if so do they hang on to Bender or look to move him for a better addition somewhere else.

Whitlock I guess would be fine but how exactly does he create the illusiion of a super pen. To me he's just another piece. What's his best pitch. Again what's it gonna cost from our vantage point.

Luke Weaver got good numbers I guess but again is he an improvement over what we already have.

The icing on the cake would be even better if Boston threw in Contreras not to mention kicked in some money.

Again just speculating here. Aroldis is obviously top of the class but you gotta ask yourself. Are any of these guys good enough to get us to the fall classic. Just something to think about.

Thank You Sir. I appreciate you. I may be one of the most critical fans on here. Some might call me negative I just wanna see competitive baseball. Not gonna lie DT I think your easily most peoples favorite on here. I look forward to your posts more than anything. I can't stand our fairweather mediocre fanbase. People wanna knock Boston they may be obnoxious but at least they care. Alls our idiot fans care about is stupid fish races & floating hotdogs. I'll watch a bunch of 8 year olds play their heart out because at least I know their putting in their best effort compared to these scrubs. Love Ya DT keep up the good work.

My question on the deadline is about how aggressive will they be this time? Fair play last year in getting Naylor and Suarez and let's be honest, if Suarez had barely played an average post season we'd have probably made it to the World Series.

Personally I think they will only look for a relief pitcher and, at a stretch... two. And don't anyone misquote about what I think we need. It only matters what they are going to go for. And I know it will be underwhelming.

I agree it will be very underwhelming. All off the position player groups are locked up and we already have too many starters so a couple BP arms is what it is....

I've seen some predictions of three players via trade..righty OF (like Taylor Ward or Seiya Suzuki), a leverage reliever just a notch below Chapman, and a righty 1B return like TY France. Course we do need to trade one of our starters (Castillo). We need to jettison Garver, imo, and call back Paredes. We will likely be bringing up Cade and Sloan for long relief and that means these current call ups like Rucker, Wilcox, and/or Davila could all be gone. Kennedy, Mastrobuoni, and Weston Wilson should be gone. Brash could return, Donovan will return. So many possibilities still left.
