Although I don't follow soccer, I do pay attention at these times. I always root for the US and Mexico. In the late 70's, my HS soccer team fielded 3 white immigrant South African brothers and 3 Mexican brothers from in town. They formed the nucleus of a great team - Steve, Ronnie, Rickey, Juan, Raul, Rodolfo. They were all great and took us to the California CCS (Central Coast Section) final four in like 76 & 77. Salinas High had no legacy in soccer, and hardly much in football at that point.

No, I didn't.

But my guess would be because soccer players are dainty little men who can't play baseball, so they probably have no favorite team, so what do they care. Like a bunch of adorable little Altuve's.
  I get it now. Wish I'd had this conversation about 40 years ago. 8-) Soccer players to Americans are like horse racing jockeys or field hockey players to Brits. Can't play the proper sports so get a soccer scholarship but its essentially meaningless.
Soccer players are as special as cricket players. Or tennis players. Golfers. Frisbee golfers. Horse racing jockeys, sure.

Look at those dweeby little nerds standing next to Bryan Woo.

Nobody cares because they're stupid fake sports.

Soccer as a sport is the equivalent of the special Olympics compared to the Olympics.

Of course a bunch of poor countries love it. You need a ball and a goal the size of an RV, so anyone can play.

You realize those soccer players appear smaller relative to Bryan Woo because they are farther from the camera? Plus, BW is 6'2" which is taller than average. Sure, they're not NFL size, but soccer is more of an indurance sport than football so carrying all that muscle mass would be a detriment. I guarantee you those guys are in way better shape and more athletic than players in those other sports you mentioned along with most MLB players.

Have a pointless thumbs up. Speaking of which did you know you can now report your own posts? Why would anyone want to do that?

It's nice that there's a game for the dainty little fellas that can't play any real sports.
Here's an odd question. Did you see the Mariners game when the US team did all the pre-game guff like first pitch and that?

Why did every single player wear a Mariners cap? Didnt they all have their own teams? I wouldnt wear a Liverpool FC scarf or cap if I was asked to do something cermonious in their city.

I wouldnt even wear a Red Sox cap if they asked me to sing your national anthem at Fenway. (Imagine that  )

I found it a bit bizarre.

You are hilarious. You act like being small is some sort of moral failing. It's not.

And so you get your facts straight, De Ketelaere, who scored twice against us last night, is 6'4". Haaland for Norway is 6'5".

The football world has United in their mockery of the USMNFT or whatever they want to call themselves,

Turkey commentator 'USA is out of the World Cup... unless there's a last-minute change.”
Croatia commentary: 'Belgium won, but let's wait... maybe tomorrow morning when we wake up, a call from the White House comes in.
Belgium pre match commentary: 'Here are the VAR officials. And of course, you can add Donald Trump from the White House.'

Don’t fuck with football. Worse than the baseball gods. England nearly copped for it the other night and we have had our share down the years.
Ouch.

They better watch out. They might offend some Americans. Good thing we all have thick skins and NEVER throw around insults. ;)

Yes, they'd be much better at running than most actual athletes.

That's about it.

What are they going to win in besides soccer? Pool? Track?

Oh, wow, the two big guys did well, I'm so shocked.

That's pretty much what I said. It's a sport that the wee-men play. So you see what happens when a guy that could play basketball or tight end slips through the cracks like those two? They dominate.

It's not a moral failing to be small, no, obviously. That's why soccer's still around. Gives them something to do once they can't play football or baseball anymore.

America is the oldest and greatest country on Earth while the only thing Belgium ever contributed to the world is waffles. USA! USA!

Probably more than you understand jokes.
