Ron the Con
Never heard of this guy until today.
Any of you old timers remember him?
Seems like this should be made into a movie.

Re: Ron the Con
A movie and book were made about LeFlore's rise to the major leagues after being an inmate at the Jackson State Penitentiary. One in a Million: The Ron LeFlore Story was a made-for-television movie starring LeVar Burton that aired on CBS in 1978. LeFlore is the cousin of former MLB outfielder Todd Steverson.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2026 8:57 pm

Re: Ron the Con
I remember watching this when I was a kid. Even then I laughed at Mickey Stanley trying to show LeFlore how to set up to a make a throw and he botches it and launches a rainbow at 4:15 of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5GhoGQLS4c. Also, Billy Martin at 3:35 and Norm Cash at 5:30 with a couple good zingers.

Even better, the little brother was played by the guy who played Lamar in Revenge Of The Nerds.

Being a Michigander, I remember Ron LeFlore very well. I just re-read the Wiki article you posted to refresh my memory.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2026 8:57 pmNever heard of this guy until today.

It was quite a story. He and Mark Fidrych were an attraction that the Tigers capitalized on.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

Wow great story. Just a little before my time born in 1979. He was out of Baseball by the time I started paying attention in about 1985.
