Nice knowing you Otto, Hello again Elly
Re: Nice knowing you Otto, Hello again Elly
So doesn't anyone have any theories how a guy goes from good defensively to bad defensively going from his age 24 to age 25 season???
We all know hitting is VERY volatile and there are even a lot of examples where goes hit will in odd years and are terrible in even years and vice versa but how does defense slump for an entire season. We were always told speed doesn't slump that that is a huge part of OF D. What happened to Julio???

My theory is that Julio just isn't happy here. I don't know why that would be the case exactly, but there are a number of reasons that players tend to not like it in Seattle compared to other cities. There could be some clubhouse dynamics at play. I've wondered for a while if he and Cal are friendly. I don't think I've ever seen them talking. That may not mean anything though.D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2026 10:11 pmSo doesn't anyone have any theories how a guy goes from good defensively to bad defensively going from his age 24 to age 25 season???

I've wondered for a while if there is a rift in the clubhouse between the white guys and the free spirited Latin players. I kind of blame Cal.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2026 1:46 amMy theory is that Julio just isn't happy here. 7 posts in 39 months? Interesting theory but only the guys in the clubhouse know the answer. btw why does not liking your teams make you play worse?seasports wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 1:06 amI've wondered for a while if there is a rift in the clubhouse between the white guys and the free spirited Latin players. It doesn't have to be a clubhouse issue but my guess is something was eating at him all season long. It could simply be the frustration of not getting to the next level as a hitter. Maybe five years of trying to hit in this park has kind of worn him down. We know he's active on social media and the criticism there gets louder every year. He's an upbeat guy but when you're constantly reading these negative takes saying that you aren't worth what the Mariners are paying you, that probably takes a toll.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 1:12 am7 posts in 39 months? Maybe it doesn't. I'm definitely not the one who came up with the notion that clubhouse chemistry matters. I mean I don't like my coworkers and we get the job done just fine. We all put in our hours, go home, and get paid. This way no one feels obligated to stay late or collaborate. Sure it's boring and I can't wait to leave each day but par for the course.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Oct 15, 2026 1:12 am7 posts in 39 months? Even better in the responses is a guy suggesting it would take both Anderson and Emerson to land Elly.harmony wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2026 3:37 amA Reds fan proposes a trade of Elly De La Cruz for Kade Anderson and three more of the Mariners' Top 10 prospects:
