Well I'd say the mariners options are pretty limited. They aren't swinging a trade this early in the season, rosters are set. What you see is what you get. This is what they decided they could win with

Put the moose out there, couldn’t be any worse
Re: Early trade rumors
Martinez is over the hill and can only DH but he can still hit .250 in hi sleep
Re: Early trade rumors
I think right now they would not be in=on JD because Jorge is their hottest hitter and he can't play in the field yet. And I think they want to play Cal as a DH a lot to keep him fresh and maximize that power bat.
JD had a 120's OPS+ last season until he cooled off late, he finished at 105. I would still be interested if he was ready at some point soon. JD might not even want to play anymore. If he has not been doing any baseball activities, it would probably take him a month to get up to speed.

Re: Early trade rumors
Sounds like they are dumpster diving per Locked on Mariners. As someone else mentioned in the thread, looking for veteran former major leaguers who are on minor league deals ready to expire on May 1. No one stands out from who was mentioned. I would be happier with giving Williamson or Cole Young a shot.
Re: Early trade rumors
The pickings are slim, but would anyone take a chance on 32-year-old infielder Brandon Drury, a Pacfic Northwest native who is under a minor league contract with the White Sox after a scorching Spring Training?

It would be insane for them to trade Castillo at this point in time given Kirby's health.
What "young" infielder could possibly have been made available that would be compelling enough to trade Castillo?
Presumedly a team that is hoping to contend, pitching sucks, but they have a wealth of infielders.
Boston? Casas has been bad. M's wouldn't want Rafaela...
Baltimore? Ramon Urias + something else would be interesting. Certainly wouldn't have been Jordan Westberg. Coby Mayo is off to a poor start in AAA.
NYY? Can't see the M's looking at Peraza or Cabrera given how unproven they are.
Cubs? It would only be Matt Shaw and he's struggled thus far.
Guess we'll never find out.
