The way I understand the Appenzeller situation is that he's a contingency if Becker doesn't sign. If you take the 700K or whatever it is that they had extra from Anderson signing below slot, which you would be offering to Becker, you can then offer that instead to Appenzeller and he can take it or leave it. And maybe with the 5% buffer plus his 150K slot, you can get that over 1 mil.

It's also possible, though I think less likely, that they have some information telling them there's a chance he just decides he doesn't want to go to school. In that case, they offer him whatever they have left at that time.

Okay, so more than likely Appenzeller goes to school. He's committed to Tennessee, which is a great program, so that's probably the best move for him.
