He can do it, he's just going to be the worst second baseman in baseball doing it. We should thank the giants since it seems to have cleared the field for the Donovan trade.

BTW, CBS sports grades the trade, gives the cardinals an A for the trade the mariners get a B

The worst defensive second baseman, while winning a batting title.

Oh no, he can't play second base defense very well, boohoo. Lol.

And they handed away 3 minor leaguers for Donovan. Pretty dumb from where I'm sitting.

I wasn't a fan of the sideshow Cjinte, but the 98mph right hander could end up being another Freddy Peralta or Pablo Lopez that Dipoto handed away.

The Harry Ford trade is far more likely to bite us than that one. Yes, thank you Giants.

Arraez has hit 12 HRs in his last 1347 PAs. JC can't get LH hitters out, Peete is a nothing burger and Williamson is a noodle bat. I think you will be happy with Donovan.

We didn't need Arraez for power. We needed a leadoff bat that can hit.

He's Ichiro at 2B without the speed. Probably just as bad as Ichiro would've been at 2B. But then RF is wide open for better bats. Sign me up for that all day.

Adam Frazier had a .779 OPS the year before he became a Mariner. Then he had a .611 OPS with us. We'll be lucky if Donovan even pulls a JP Crawford level year imo.

Nobody was upset about losing Freddy Peralta or Pablo Lopez at the time of those trades either.

I just would've taken Arraez for cash, instead of trading for Donovan.

Guess we'll see. Dipoto's had better judgment in recent years, have to give him that.

it doesn't have to be about getting bit. The cardinals are viewed as having had a nice off season putting together a rebuild plan. They got a nice haul for Donovan that added to it. Hopefully the mariners got a piece that helps them on another deep playoff run.

Doesn't concern me what Cjinte does for the cardinals , what's important is what Donovan does for us. But still I'll be curious to follow his career there. Funny, I think he gets hammered for attempting to pitch left handed. Like his value is dependent on him succeeding. I was reading a scouting report. As a right hander he can be dominant against left handed hitting. He's more pedestrian against right handed. I could see if you could actually make a pitcher dominant against both sides of the plate it be tantalizing to try. But even without that I think the cardinals probably got a decent mid rotation starter that should be able to contribute soon.

He was horrible vs. LH hitters and lights out vs. RH hitters so might need to find a new scouting report. lol

here's the cardinals on how they plan to use him. Maybe have him throw left handed to get left handers out
“What we’ve committed to for big-league camp is that he will throw from the right side when he’s in games or lives,” Marmol said. “And then he will continue to work from both sides otherwise
“It’s pretty electric stuff. That was fun to watch,” Marmol said. “You could tell, even listening to the players behind (the fence, watching), there’s excitement there.”

St. Louis is excited about the raw power behind Cijntje’s right arm as Marmol sees plenty of room for him to develop.

“This is a guy that we obviously know what we’re getting—it’s powerful stuff out of the right side,” Marmol said. “And he’s got the demeanor and overall aptitude to make some of the adjustments that I think will even get him to a higher ceiling with some the breaking balls.”

He walked 39 Hitters in 40 innings pitched vs. LH hitters.... Good luck with that. And since he almost never pitches RH to Left handers nobody knows if he will have success doing that yet.
