My mother told me I was named Bruce because it lacked diminutive forms. I of course grew up envying guys with names that had diminutive forms
What does that even mean? lol Oh Like Thomas to Tom?
Yeah, I think that's the term, Thomas, Tom, Tommy. John, Johnny, Jack, Jacky... More familiar variations. Darren is similar. I'm serious, before she ever told me that I remember wishing I had a name that could be reconstructed like Johnny or Jacky lol. My name seemed dull, formal. Darren is a formal name, that's it, Darren

Jacky longer than Jack so I wouldn't count that one. Fredrick and Fred. William Bill, Richard Dick. Ronald Ron. Donald Don. Ebenezer Ebbie. lol

I think diminutive means that the subject is small, not that the word is shorter. I suspect that there are a lot of people named John, Bill, and Bob who go by those names as adults, but as kids were called Johnny, Billy, and Bobby.

I always wondered how did they get Chuck out of Charlie and Dick out of Richard.

Remember Peppermint Patty always called Charlie Brown Chuck. I never got it until years later.. That one is actually a 3 phase evolution. from Charles to Charlie to Chuck.

What is your full given name? Roderick?

Say hello to Will Bradley Wilson, M's newest, temporary 3B, SS, 2Bman, brought up today as Donovan goes on the IL.
MastroBunny is on the 60-day.
Looks like Emerson is not the choice as of yet.
Wilson is not a bat, just a body.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

15th overall pick in 2019. Major bust.

Jack, Josh, Will, Dan, Mike. The Wilson 5. None could hit.
