Addressing the new ideas in your offseason plan:

1. The Braves would laugh at that proposal and hang up the phone. They're going to get some pretty good offers for Acuna, and the offer of a pitcher like Miller who has put up a 0.6 bWAR in 39 starts over the last two seasons (just an AVERAGE starter would have put up a 2.2 bWAR), a single A pitcher who had a good 2026 but is the Mariners' #11 prospect, and a tombstone like Rodden who nobody would want is going to have the Braves' GM looking around for hidden cameras to see if he's on Punk'd. This is the epitome of a Fan Trade.

2. Pass on Dubon. His bat will go dead at T-Mobile and he's never been an everyday shortstop. Either go after someone better or pull Emerson's head out of his ass.

3. Abreau is intriguing and worth taking a shot at. It would be interesting to see how he'd pitch at T-Mobile after spending his entire career thus far in a bandbox.

4. Estevez is also a good one to take a shot at, except that if the Royals aren't going to try to re-sign him, there's probably a good reason for this. Have to take that into consideration.

Again, our offseason should start with getting Teruaki Sato.

David -

Agree with pretty much everything in your post.

At first I was in favor of going after Suzuki for the OF, but I think there are lots of other options that are cheaper and will likely work.

I totally agree that our offseason’s success beings and ends with Sato. He would be a huge get, and Dipoto and <insert new coach’s name here> can get creative with the rest of the IF.

After that, it’s finding the right bullpen pieces. But Sato is the key to it all. BUT - there will be a ton of other suitors, and he is predicted to get 5 years and $100MM which has historically been too rich for our blood. The question is whether the M’s will get serious this offseason given the disaster of last season and their rapidly closing window of contention.

If Acuna gets traded, I think we'll be surprised at how light the trade package is for him.

Pirates beat writer proposed Miller and Brash for Acuna.

Brash popped 2.1 bWAR the last 2 years and has spent much of the last 3 years injured.

I don't think my trade is that far off given what others are proposing.

Sounds like that guy's beating something all right, and it's not his keyboard. Look, I know that more than anything with these trades you're trying to talk yourself into believing that they're realistic, but put yourself on the other side. If the Braves offered us a starting pitcher who's shitty more than half the time and a good but brittle relief pitcher for Acuna, seriously, what would you say to that?

It works in video games if you have the “ force trades” and “ignore budget” toggled.

I think you’re right. Any negotiation for Acuna is going to start with Anderson and end with Sloan in the asking price.

I actually doubt that. Acuna is a headache player that's constantly injured. You guys are all thinking that this is an MVP-caliber player but it's been years since he's been that guy. Atlanta missed the window to get a monster package back.

I like Acuna but as some have said - how much of the season can you rely on him for? He has sadly been injury ridden, looks like he's only played 2 full seasons in his 9 years in mlb. I would be happy if we traded for him and just hope he if does get injured that its in the middle of the season and is back by Aug 1.

He's a younger Ketel Marte. We need to stop with this bs of targeting circus freaks and focus on studs. I know this organization will never do that but it would be nice if one day they did.
