Read the thread and thought I'd give it one more try. Glad I did. I was following along but couldn't get in until yesterday. Happy to be back!

Bumping thread.

Question, possibly for Jason - the functionality of the forum is still pretty decent but we are now running it on the software from several years ago, possibly as many as 5 years ago.

We are on version 3.2.8 and the latest is about 3.3.14. The policy of restricting new users is actually better for security than keeping the software up-to-date. Without this there would be some vulnerability, so well played for that.

Just wondering if we would have some new features to play with if the software was upgraded. The twitter/X post link problem is a little bit irritating now, for instance. I would imagine that gets tidied up in more recent versions?

I know hosting sites usually charge to upgrade the PHP licences. Maybe a one-off dollar-pound donation might be in order?
I've always thought the best part about this forum was it is a lot like the Seattle Times forum was, but this forum has some server space so it doesn't auto-delete posts after a few months.

I think the two hesitations to changing would be if it changes the forum all that much, and if all posts and history would transfer over.

Curious to hear what everyone thinks about updating

Welcome back, Dragon! I, too, was concerned with your whereabouts.

It might be an if it ain't broke don't fix it type of deal. The Twitter issue only takes a few seconds extra post which isn't that big a deal

Nah. I had two homerooms in a row of the classes from hell, plus two classes of Seventh grade Math where half the class didn't have a clue what multiplication was. So I'm retired now. Livin' the dream. Went to France and Italy this last summer. I'd like to go back to France if only to walk through Notre Dame and then go see the Caves at Lascaux.

I'll have to seriously think about it. Just don't know if Lady Dragon will give me a week off!

Was it giving you any messages about what was happening or just not letting you log on no matter what?

How did you end up getting it figured out? I think T-lo had a problem getting on one time too, just wondering what happened when you'd try to log in?
