Glad we had Refsnyder in there or things could've really gotten out of hand.

Only lost by one. Phew.
Refsnyder: Greatest leadoff batter in the history of baseball, 0-4 last night with 3 k's.

I look at the bright side of things. We won the k battle. M's k'd "only" 13 times while the WS k'd 14. We're winners.

Attendance: 28,837. If tickets averaged $30 a pop, that's over $865,000.
Tickets for today's 1:10 P.M. game run from $18 up to $1042 apiece. There's 4 left @ $1022 and 3 @ $1042.
If last night's ticket sales averaged $50 each.....$1,441,850.
Wonder how many $20 beers were sold?

Sure wish I had a Refsnyder bobblehead to smash with my hammer.
Rocky Colavito is a Hall of Famer in my book!

If it seemed odd how Wilson handled relieving Castillo it's because it was. Wilson screwed up the rules
He would issue a leadoff walk to Munetaka Murakami and then hit Miguel Vargas.

The Mariners initiated a mound visit, but from pitching coach Pete Woodworth, not Wilson.

It was an effort to allow closer Andres Muñoz more time to warm up, because immediately after Woodworth returned to the dugout, Wilson then attempted a pitching change but was denied by home-plate umpire Ryan Blakney.

Wilson was denied because Castillo did not throw another pitch before he attempted to make the change

I'd say the likelyhood increases when winning streaks are as rare as they are with this team.
A Mariners winning streak is a rare as a a quiet Karen at a restaurant.

Rarer than a cucumber in a convent.

We don't really have winning streaks. More like episodic games where the other team forgot how to catch.

So let me get this straight: THAT was the lineup we put on the field, THAT was the guy we had hitting leadoff, THAT was the guy we had going out there to pitch the ninth inning, and then THAT was when we brought in Munoz to pitch.

In 50 years of watching Mariner baseball, Dan Wilson has to be the worst strategist of a manager that I've ever seen, and last night he really outdid himself. Literally EVERYONE was like WTF is he doing? Even though you can't say with 100% certainty that a manager can win or lose a game because an opposite decision could in concept yield the same result, last night was about as close to 100% as you can get.

So we've been one-hit twice in the last three games, the first by a guy who is a shell of his former self and who had just gotten pummeled in four starts in AA and A ball, and the second by a guy who has a career ERA of 5.13, a career WHIP of 1.446, and despite pitching very well in Japan last year has only improved slightly against MLB hitting. Two guys who aren't good enough to hold teams to one hit one-hitting us. In a three-game stretch. You can't even make this shit up.
