AFL pitching doesn't approximate MLB and I'm not sure hitting stats in the AFL mean much of anything.
You must of blinked over "Most Closely"

How about his AAA OPS relative to the other guys that we know love and have seen fail in the Big Leagues.

2023 AAA OPS MLB OPS
Ford: 1.031 .798
Haggerty: .997 .705
Kean Wong: .922 N/A
Trammell: .920 .612
Scheiner: .878 N/A
Deloach: .868 N/A
Hummel: .844 .551
Bliss: .779 ????????
That definitely doesn't look great.

Which of these guys did Dipoto say was the key to the deal, was it Rojas?

Hopefully Rojas keeps it up, not sure about Canzone. Bliss is tiny, not many of those guys make it. Maybe he's scrappy. Hey, we should check the projections! 😂

I would say he's holding his own. He didn't dominate the league, but he got better after the trade. He's a sort of borderline prospect that has a chance at some sort of MLB career, probably as a bench player, and possibly very valuable in that role. Right now, he's at 1278 minor league plate appearances and he's probably a guy that would be served best served with another full season in the minors, or close to a full season. Maybe he comes up for 2 weeks in July or something like that. What I really don't want to hear is the age old "he's got nothing left to prove in the minors" after a good spring training or a good month in Triple A. Just keep him down in the minors and let him get his reps in, let all the pitchers in the league get multiple looks at him and make their adjustments. Triple A is the second highest level of baseball in the world. It's fine. Let him develop. See what he does.

Yeah agree. When they showed video his GS in the AFL on X half of Mariner twitter was demanding he be the OD full time 2B based on one PA. That is the crowd I was addressing. Zero reason to expect he is a better option than Rojas, Moore or even Cabby at this point.

WS champion Rangers have signed away Diego Castillo. Non-roster Invitee. They have had pretty good luck with guys that didn't perform well here.

We gave up Shenton in a knee jerk trade to back fill after the Graveman trade for Toro for a guy that is a NRI 1.5 years later.

Shenton put up a 1.034 OPS in AAA last season in the International League which is a pitchers league. Feels like we could use a good hitting OFer about now, doesn't it?

Let that sink in for a minute.

Yes, I commented on Bliss's PCL stats and his size.

I don't care much about size, if the power is there its there, but we all know the PCL is a hitter's paradise.

Altuve is 5'6 166 lbs and 209 HRs in 13 seasons

Willie B. is 5'11" 200 lbs and only hit 18 in 14 seasons

He followed up with 0 hrs in the AFL, except for that GS, so we will see.

Their 26th ranked prospect, he's not projected as an outfielder
The 25-year-old has an all-bat profile considering he’s a below-average runner. He has enough arm to feature at third base, where he’s received the majority of his Minor League starts, but first base might be a better fit. The Rays have played him more there since moving him to Durham, and Kyle Manzardo’s move to Cleveland opens up a lane on that section of the depth chart

Yeah 23 is not a lot at all even in the IL. I just found it interesting that Seager didn't become a semi Power hitting until he was in his late 20s
