Probably have about $20-25M in payroll left to add. Plenty of room to add 3-5 wins with a trade + a signing or two trades.
I like it even more now that Garver gets $9.5 M in 2024 and $11.5M in 2025.

I'm hoping for a Snell deal that has money deferred in 2024.

Maybe the following
Snell signing, which adds 1.5 wins over Miller. It keeps him away from Yankees, Anaheim.
Miller trade for Azorarena, which adds 1.5 wins over Marlowe/Trammel/Deloach.
Trade or sign a setup reliever, adding about 1 win. I suspect someone in the pen will regress down.
I though it was $24M total?
Yes, I'm curious of the rest of the details.

Good call on the notion that they might defer salary to 2025 and beyond.

They could be a $3M bonus, paid out of $1M for each on 2/1 of 2024, 2025, 2026.

Yep massive risk if Cease doesn't return to his 2022 form. Don't get cute and just sign Manaea for a few million more. .

I'm just not willing to see all those prospects leave the organization.

Sure especially since Cease struggled in 2023.

Yes, and I like the way we get to upgrade two positions. Cease is the more mature pitcher and has reached his prime. I know he just had a 97 ERA+ in 2023 but in 2022 he was #2 in CY voting with a 180 ERA+. The playoff rotation would set-up as some rotation of Castillo, Kirby, and Cease with Maybe Ray, Miller, and Gilbert coming out of the pen. But, 2022 looks like it might have been a fluke. In his 4 full seasons

His 2022 may have been an outlier but giving up that package would lead me to believe you are betting on some upside. Marcels predicts he is right at his career average of a 3.83 ERA, 113 OPS+ in 2024. That is a 3 or 3.5 Win player!

And Randy A was down to a 120 OPS+ last year but that was still good for a 3.5 BWAR.

Looks good to me. I'd rather push some of the other assets in vs the two 1st Rd. 2023 picks but that is just me.
