You know, if we didn't trade Noelvi Marte, we wouldn't be in need of a 3b at all.

Noelvi homered today for the Reds, came into the game with a 137 OPS+. Sometimes you do just end up spinning your wheels and chasing your tail with these deadline moves. Hold onto Marte and there's no need to keep searching for 3b help
If we didn't trade Marte, we wouldn't have had Luis Castillo which means we likely wouldn't have broken the playoff drought in 2023 and won a playoff series.

There's also no way the M's, in their position of trying to compete, would roll with a guy who was one of the worst 3 position players in baseball last year at -1.2 fWAR over just 66 games alongside an 80-game suspension for PEDs.

Your brain just doesn't think of this stuff does it? It just jumps to shit without thinking.
I understand your frustration brother but you need to chill with the personal attacks. Anthony isn't attacking you at all. He is just debating you.

Don't forget you are on the Tolerant left. ;)

SoB, he would've played his way onto the roster the same way Williamson has done. It really wasn't that hard given the hole at 3b when Polanco was deemed unfit to play there.

And c'mon, teams mark prospects as untouchable all the time. The Yanks are notorious for saying you can't have that guy and you can't have that guy. Had we held onto Marte and traded Kelenic or Miller or something, you probably still get Castillo.

You can't just say that the M's wouldn't have to worry about 3B if Marte was still in the system. You're completely ignoring ALL of the context for how both team's have arrived at this point today. It's not an intelligent point to look 2 years later at a player they traded and just make silly assumptions.

All I am asking is for you to think with more complexity beyond your initial urge to post something. You just have an obsession with particular prospects and it clouds your ability to write intelligent posts that make any sense in the grand scheme of things.

It's like someone saying, "well the Mariners might have won that game if Julio didn't get picked off at 1st because Cal hit a homer 2 pitches later that would have given them the lead." That's not how things work... events/actions that take place alter outcomes into completely different directions.

I can't consider it a debate when the points he's making are so juvenile. They require almost no thought. They have no depth to them.

Recent examples:

"I watch baseball, you don't, and I can see that Cole Young is a good hitter so stats don't matter."

"I don't care about WAR. Josh Naylor can stand at 1B so I want him."

How are you supposed to debate that? And worse, he just ignores all the actual context associated with why those are bad arguments.

He doesn't learn from any feedback that other posters give him. He just doubles down on the insanity.

You could make the exact same point without this:

Except that I can't.

He only seems to face reality when things get heavy.

You present facts and they go right over his head.
