Behind Reynolds, sadly our best bet at the moment appears to be Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

Seems like Flexen + a low level minor league reliever would probably be enough to get a deal done (if the Dbacks didn't actually acquire him as an answer to their own lineup).

115 career wRC+ compared to Kelenic's 68.

At least it would get the bat out of Kelenics hands. Gurriel had ~500 plate appearances in 2022 and put up a .743 OPS, so they can still save some precious at bats for their golden calf Kelenic.

“We're about as balanced as any team that I think we've ever had, and we have young prime or in their prime players at every position on the field,” Dipoto said.
Yeah because have Dylan Moore and JK getting DH bats is better than old man Jose Abreu.....
This is what frustrates me too.

We don't have prime players at every position on the field, they're delusional.

Left field and DH are a wasteland.

Personally I think their biggest problem is they're just handing opportunities out as Option A, instead of adequately staffing the MLB team and letting opportunities come when a player gets injured or traded or underperforms.
I would rather have prime players than bad players in their prime. Note that he was only talking about age and not quality of player.

I honestly think that the M's Marketing/Social media department conducts social listening to gauge the mood of the fanbase and they see that there are way too many lunatics like this happy to go with JK in LF so why would they spend to get a legit bat.

My company engages in Social listening to get a better understanding how patients feel about our and our competitors drugs. You can bet your ass the M's do it too.

Which means Daniel Kramer is fulfilling his job.

Kramer works for Major League Baseball to enhance "brands through creative written and multimedia content." Kramer is up front about his public relations experience:

Every major business has a public relations arm. Any critical media consumer takes into consideration the source of the information.

In the information economy access to key sources is often related to the positive/negative tone of the overall coverage. It's a tough balance for an objective outside reporter but less important to the public relations practitioner.

Very easy to provide interesting news, updates and options without exalting the brilliance of the plan and notifying fans that large FA contracts don't GUARANTEE a WS title.   I swear if I read that one more time....

Daniel Kramer's audience extends beyond a cynical, obsessed fan to prospective fans on the margins. The hardcore fans are already in the team's pocket.

Or not. :)

Lol you will read it 100+ more times and love it every time. You know the M's ownership just wants to win enough so butts are in the seats for the 27th Ichiro bobblehead night.
