I don't see White's scouting report as being indicative of what his issues are. If he hadn't developed enough power for first base that be one thing but he was supposed to have a good hit tool. They traded for Jesus Montero who was supposed to be all hit and power and no defense and struck out on him too.

See I am not all about looks. I am not shallow Hal. I can appreciate a woman with a great baseball mind. :)

Speaking of the Rangers, they are now apparently front runners for Bryan Reynolds:

Or so the rumor goes.

That would result in them jumping us in WAR projection.

Yep. Without significantly adding payroll.

I like the change. Get to see more players from other teams and less of the the AL West.

Nelson Cruz to the Padres for $1 million. Good low risk move for the Padres, and I guess it gives him a chance to keep chasing some stats. He probably has his eyes on the 500 HR mark. He's at 459 HR right now, so that looks like at least two more seasons to me. Or maybe he just wants to keep playing because what the hell else does he have to do with his time?

Nah he has had eye problems for a about 1.5 years and he had surgery in the offseason. Pre trade he was someone we had our focus on. I am at least a bit tantalized by his potential. In fact I have called for an incentive laden deal or him.

That might just be the best deal of this years FA class. Nothing but upside or almost no losses. Him or Trevor Bauer.

Good and funny podcast here. Former M's forum poster Scott Webber on it along with Nathan Bishop and David Skiba
