btw way did we need to extend him for all that money into his mid 30s????
His agent probably pushed it for financial security, especially with Castillo being a pitcher. The nature of baseball, you have to overpay for guys and eat at least one bad season.

The Kraken just went through something that was completely the opposite. They tried to do a sign-and-trade for a star player from Dallas and offered 8 years and 120 million which would have made him the 2nd-highest player in the league. He said nope and took a one year, 12 million dollar extension from Dallas instead. Insane.
I know why he and his agent wanted it. Just saying we shouldn't have agreed to it...

Agreed, it will be a great day for the Mariners franchise as long as Hollander and big dumb Dave Cameron go with him.

Me too, but it will never happen. He is doing exactly what he is being asked by the ownership group to do, just like Dan is doing exactly what Jerry is asking him to do. This is a fucked up puppet show where only the people paying to watch it suffer. Even the underperforming players laugh all the way to the bank while the local media slobbers all over them like they have actually accomplished something.

Again, my son is almost 22 years old, they have been to the playoffs twice in his life. I was almost five when the Mariners became a Franchise. I was 22 before they made the playoffs and was basically spoiled from 95 to 2001 because they made what, five playoff appearances? Of course, that was followed by the longest playoff draught in North fucking American sports, only to be told we should be happy with what we have because they try to win just over half of their games. Yep all of that, 7 playoff appearances in a half a century, and we should be fucking happy!?

The local media slurps it up like a six year old cleaning the ice cream bowl, the fans come out to the stadium in droves to pay the incredibly over priced rates these fat cats charge to witness giggling millionaires kick the ball around, make bad baserunning errors and swing and miss over and over again...and those dudes make the millions whether they can actually do the job they are paid for or not.

The only people suffering are the reason they can afford to do it because they keep handing them money to watch a bullshit product and be told by the media it's fine and the ownership group that they should be happy. Holy Shit, if this was an actual business model there would be ZERO investors. But they make money hand over fucking fist. So of course nothing is gonna change.
