I think we'd be better off with him if they still made the rest of the moves they were planning on making if he declined.
I think they gave him the special vet treatment this season, let him play in a contract year.
If he accepted a QO, he'd probably be better off as a 400 plate appearances guy anyways, so they wouldn't have to pussyfoot around benching him against tough righties. And they'd likely DH him more.
