Julio aside, the reason they lost yesterday was Miller sucked.
Miller is a second year pitcher. Expecting him to go 7 and give up 1 every start is unrealistic.

This fan base has incredibly unrealistic expectations of pitchers given how we’ve been spoiled.

Julio is a 4th year playing completely blowing ass and making 40x the $$.

I expect more than going four innings and giving up four runs. It's not about blaming Miller but that's troubling. It is the story of that game.

So 180 innings was too much for Bryce to handle? This rotation is so overrated anyway. He would be a BOR starting pitcher on almost every team in the league.

I think Miller is going down here pretty soon this season. Last night wasn't disastrous, but his velocity was down and his command was off. He threw seven different pitch types last night, which tells me that he an Cal were sort of working their way through his repertoire, trying to find something that would work.

If it's just soreness, maybe they can just shut him down for a few starts.

Why would you dump him, he's the backup catcher and actually he's been hitting
No, he actually hasn't. He has one double and a home run off of a position player. He only gets the occasional single in non-clutch situations. But you just can't help yourself.
Actually it's you that can't seem to help yourself. .282/ .462 /.385/ .846. That's what Garver has been hitting the last 30 days. The last 15 days it's .318/ .483/ .500 /.983, so the trajectory is improvement. I don't know how many position players it took pitching to him for him to accomplish it, but for me I see the possibility his bat could be coming around. At the very least, it doesn't scream, cut the guy.

And aside from that, if you did cut him you're giving up a decent backup catcher who's hitting .231/ .394/ .308 /.702 on the season, I'd take that from a backup catcher, so not only are you stuck continuing to pay Garver, his salary, now you have to find another catcher and pay them too. Sorry bro, i really don't see cutting Garver as making a lot of sense
Those numbers don't mean squat, they're inflated by 1) singles he's hit with two outs and nobody on in games that had been already decided; 2) an inordinate number of walks including two that came on pitches that were clearly strike three; and 3) a home run that he hit off of a position player that really inflated those numbers.

Whenever he does come up in a clutch situation he fails, like in his last AB in the Ranger series when he got a meatball right down the middle and grounded into a routine DP.

What...did you actually think that I wouldn't be ready for that?

We all should, but the problem is that is kind of the norm. Once they get close to 100 pitches it's bullpen time. I'm not sure why they think that a bullpen guy should throw damn near every day, but a guy who has a light throw day and a throw day besides his one start every five days is a dead man at 95 pitches.

How often do those bullpen guys get up, warm up, come in a game and throw hard, high leverage pitches, and then do it again, maybe three or four times a week!? It's flat stupid.

Velo was down? He was a consistent 95-97 the first couple innings.

He seemingly started throwing more sinkers to locate.

Got it… so 2nd year pitchers should always pitch at a fringe All Star level but Mr. $300 million gets a constant pass.

Miller's just not very good outside of T-Mobile.

2024:
Home ERA: 1.96
Away: 4.07

2025:
Home: 2.30
Away: 5.68

They should really be examining why his game works so well in Seattle though. He's obviously got something figured out there.

His 4-seam velocity averaged 94.6 for the game. If you go through each matchup on Baseball Savant, you can see his velocity ticking downward each inning.
