Definitely. Plus Ken Giles and Andres Munoz next season. Any chance Graveman signs with Seattle in the offseason?

And, going forward, the fact that we got them from the Astros will be even better, especially if they don't win the WS in 2021!Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 11:31 pmI do too!!! If Toro turns out to be France, HOLY SHIT!! This huge. Yes it stings cause its the 'Stros, and especially after an emotional win. But going forward, we will be so much better.
Fuck Dayton Moore!!!!
Re-sign Graveman if he loved it here, we loved him too, just had to use his 2 months to fill a hole for 4 years.

If this ruins this teams momentum then wow. Why trade our best reliever are u kidding me? Makes no sense. Why in the hell are we selling. Btw Turner from Nationals taken out of game no injury.

Oh, great, that's even better imo. He's right in the age range of these kids, they can finish the season steong together.
Sexys post must be an old prospect list, my bad-

Might as well trade Haniger now, less than a day after i finally accepted the notion that the Mariners are a good baseball team with a 1995-like knack for pulling out wins.
Fuck you very much Jerry.

So Smith and Montero are change of scenery guys, fine.
The meat seems to be 2 months of Graveman in a season "we aren't supposed to win" for 4.5 years of a 3B/2B? It seems totally reasonable to me. We got about that much control of Haniger when we traded for him.

Mariners Trade Kendall Graveman to … the Astros?
July 27, 2021, by Brett Taylor Chicago Cubs
Now there’s a weird one. Not only are these two teams in the same division, but they are currently separated by just 6.0 games in the standings. And yet they just executed a trade to help each other win this year.
The Astros get their closer(?) – so consider them out on Craig Kimbrel? or not? – but it’s a weird trade:
So that’s Graveman, who has been fantastic this year as a part-time closer for the Mariners, now heading into the back of the Astros’ bullpen. They also get Montero, who has pitched to terrible results this year, but with decent peripherals.
In return, the Mariners get Toro, an interesting young utility type (mostly third base) who hasn’t quite established himself yet, and Joe Smith, who has kinda had a year like Montero. This is just a little weird, and it certainly seems like not a real ‘sell’ trade by the Mariners, who are just a game out of the Wild Card. I’m gonna guess they’ll also do some buying?
In any case, Graveman is now off the market, and although he wasn’t in Kimbrel’s tier, he was something of cheaper competition. The Astros could’ve been in on Kimbrel – still could be, I suppose – but this probably softens their interest considerably. I mean, I guess Graveman could set up for Ryan Pressly, in which case the Astros could still be looking for an impact closer like Kimbrel – what a trio that would be!
I’m just kinda thrown by this one. Not sure how to think about it, but that’s Jerry Dipoto for you. Is there another reliever on the way for them? Is that the explanation?
But, uh, yeah, I would think this would be an issue:
