They aren't going to give him a multi year offer. It would have been done already.
They were still counting on powder boy when that window for offers was appropriate. Then Mitch got hurt. I still think a 3 yr deal is a good one given the market. Mitch has 3 more good yrs
Julio just got an extension. Divish thinks Mitch wants to test FA. No idea how it will play out. I won't be surprised no matter what happens.

IF Evan White could ever get his shit together…He should be playing outfield every chance he gets
If White can hit he can play 1B and France to DH which should keep him healthier.....I think he would be playing OF in these meaningless Tacoma games if that was the plan. Similar to Torrens playing 2B.

This is VERY highly unlikely but IF White can hit and we sign Turner then trade winker for a set of steak knives.

Turner SS
Julio
France DH
Mitch
Suarez
Cal
TT/Sam LF
White 1B
JP 2B

Again though I don't think we can be handing guys spots in the line who have significant MLB failure and ZERO mlb success no matter how good their AAA stats are during our Championship window. For this reason, I think we need to trade White and JK to rebuilding teams that can play them every day in meaningless games.

I think it's a heck of a lot more likely they move France back to second base than make a DH out of him. I mean on multiple levels, first being France would be pissed about it. He is a gold glove winning first baseman, my guess is he wants to play the field.

I also think you guys need to get past this idea of a DH in the first place. There are 30 teams now vying for DHs. There is only a handful of guys out there that fit that all bat no field model. Teams now are in fact running multiple players through the dh position. The key is having the players that fit the new model.

Find two GOOD/Great hitters. Have them split time at 1B/DH. Don't sign guys that can't play the field 150 games a year and need DH as a pseudo field hospital. Simple.

btw France's reign as a top defensive 1B was short lived and he doesn't strike me as someone that cares where he plays.

Okay, it's not a field hospital it's having a long roster with hitters you want to get into games. I'll bet most teams are running three players through the DH. I'd be curious to check that. This thing with the mariners running a dozen through it I think is what's unique.

Okay, you can't afford to have him just be the dh. That's how we got stuck with Toro. You need to have guys that can play the field, it's nice if they can hit well enough to be a decent dh

Their plan at DH got them negative WAR. Used to be a lot worse until Mitch started DHing recently.

Nothing wrong with that, how many are using a single player primarily at dh?
