So you're signing him to play corner outfield? That to me sounds like an overpay. His 5 WAR is based on playing center field.
5 WAR equates to $40M based on $8M per. He is only expect to $20M per. $40M is silly even for a 5 WAR player but even if he falls to 3-4 WAR he earns the $20M and who knows maybe he always dreamed of playing close to his childhood home in Wyoming and we get him for 4 x $18M

Bleach report has him at $100 mil. Whatever he gets paid seems like you're devaluing him by moving him off center field. There are teams looking for a center fielder, would think that where he end up, where his market is. Much like them trying to put a FA SS on second base.

Interesting note, he had a .900 OPS on the road this year.

He really struggled hitting (.688 OPS) at Citi field, which was 22nd overall in park factor for lefties.

In stadiums where he played at least 9 games, he performed really well in Cinci (1st in park factor for L's), Philli (5th in park factor for L's), Washington (6th in park factor for L's), Miami (11th in park factor for L's).

SafeCo was the worst stadium in baseball for left handers.

This might not be a good fit. Gives me Adam Frazier vibes.

It sounds like a dipaoto move actually, sign a center fielder to play corner.

Wow, I was always told T Mobile was fine for Lefties and bad for Righties. Why did they only move the LF and LCF fences in?

Um, JRod came up playing mostly RF. Would his skills be better applied there if we were to sign a FA CF? Would it save his legs? Would he be better defensively? I don't know which is why I am asking. But I did know he played a lot of RF in the minors, so would it make sense to mover him to COF if we signed someone like Nimmo?

That center/right corner is where baseballs go to die.

I feel like they need to bring that corner in a good 15 feet.

Good question. He will move there eventually but guessing not for at least a few years....

I think the luster around him playing in CF is pretty appealing.

Griffey played there. He's the next coming. He was an All Star. He made wow plays out there.

Gotta keep him there.

JP hasn't earned the same respect.
