Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
The Astros, who have virtually the same market at the Mariners, now have 3x relievers making $8, $11.5, and $14 million per year. They'll likely spend at least $40 more million, pushing them past the $192 million payroll that had last year.
Anyone know why the M's are "on a budget?" Especially when you consider that they saved a king's ransom from 2020-2022 financially?
I swear, sometimes being a fan of this ball club makes me sick.

It's not worth anything.harmony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:40 pmFWIW: Going down the rumor rabbit hole (from comments section of an MLB Trade Rumors post):https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/ ... zales.htmlJaysfan198110 hours ago
@KingFloch.
Im not that guy, if you follow Jays threads it’s clear there’s a poster who claims to have worked with the ORG and has contacts currently in the ORG etc etc.
I know someone plugged in to the jays through social media. There’s real talk Acuna is getting traded. Seattle and the Jays are 1/2 in the talks.
Bo Bichette is up for grabs. A 1/1 Acuna Julio has been proposed. There’s a few other teams involved
ACUNA is upset at ATL. Upset at AA for signing his current contract.
It’s his own fault. But he still feels taken advantage of
Take it as a grain of salt. It’s just a troll putting BS out there
Or…….????

The Mariners wouldn't trade Julio for Acuna in a million years.

Why do random fan comments interest you so much?

Lunacy. If Jerry traded Julio, his next move should be to take a suicide cyanide pill to avoid being burning alive tied to a Pioneer square street light.harmony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:40 pmFWIW: Going down the rumor rabbit hole (from comments section of an MLB Trade Rumors post):https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/ ... zales.htmlJaysfan198110 hours ago

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
I did the math. From 2019-2022 the save a quarter billion dollars calculated by taking the variance between 2018's $168M payroll vs. actuals for those four seasons.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:41 pmThe Astros, who have virtually the same market at the Mariners, now have 3x relievers making $8, $11.5, and $14 million per year. Brash and Ford headline and Acuna deal, but its going to take more than that. Not sure about that.harmony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:40 pmFWIW: Going down the rumor rabbit hole (from comments section of an MLB Trade Rumors post):https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/ ... zales.htmlJaysfan198110 hours ago

Should the Mariners offer the Braves a non-Julio package for Ronald Acuña Jr.?D-train wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:47 pmLunacy. Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League Thread
I tried to come up with a B. Reynolds trade and couldn't even do it and he is only at $59M. Acuna is almost $100M. Ford + Brash only = ~$25M. Not even close.

I know a Scout personally currently working in the Braves organization. He said that Atlanta's team preferably drafts or takes players with the highest upside regardless of how much of a bust they could be, every single time.harmony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:51 pmShould the Mariners offer the Braves a non-Julio package for Ronald Acuña Jr.?D-train wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:47 pmLunacy. The Mariners don't really have a package to offer for Acuna unless they include Kirby or Gilbert in a deal.harmony wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:51 pmShould the Mariners offer the Braves a non-Julio package for Ronald Acuña Jr.?D-train wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 3:47 pmLunacy. He's also an an extremely affordable contract and the Braves would be selling extremely low on him considering he had a down season after recovering from a broken leg.
There's just no chance Acuna is on the market. Even at $17 million a year, 2.8 WAR and a .760 OPS is far worth the chance that he goes back to hitting in the upper .800's to low .900's OPS wise.

Baseball Trade Values gives a package of Logan Gilbert, Andres Munoz and Penn Murfee equal value.
