If these guys are their best prospects I don't know what to say

KY Bush 4.47 ERA in the minors and a 5.58 ERA as a 23 year-old in AA( Not in top 100)

Edgar Quero Baseball prospectus has him ranked at #89 but no others. As a 20 year old in AA he has a .717 OPS. He is a catcher so there is the positional value here. I would call him a border line top 100 because he is in only 1 publication.

You know not all clubs are equal. Their #1 prospect is also a catcher and has a .800 OPS in MLB. With this trade the the Sox can claim they got their top 2 prospects in return.

And the Angels have doubled down for a run. But will likely fall off a cliff when Ohtani leaves.
They have a number of good bats out
CF Trout 134 OPS+
2B Drury 121 OPS+
C Logan O'Hoppe #1 prospect and a 137 OPS+
Not to mention : Jo Adell, Urshella, Rendon, Walsh

If the Angels get fully healthy they are probably at least even if not a little better overall.

And they are 1/2 a game in-front of us now.
They tend to bring up their players really quickly. They have drafted college players and moved them through their system. Zach Neto was drafted last year and already played 62 games. Joyce was their 3rd rounder (didn’t have a second). Their first rounder from 2021 has been injured, only 6 starts this year. Bush was their second rounder.

Yeah I was shocked when I saw Neto's name and figured he had to have been at least a couple drafts ago and I was misremembering.

Turns out I was right… basically told every Cards fan out there that he has likely told the Cardinals which teams he’d accept a trade to which is why he wasn’t shutting down trade talk ideas at the AS game.

Shame it’s the Dodgers but he is from SoCal sooo…

Neto is a pretty good player. And I really don’t remember him being a top prospect at all but the fast progression is impressive and probably the reason why.

It’s part of it. They are drafting mlb ready players, trying to move them quick, and probably lose some of the upside that gets a player ranked. They do have bad drafting though, and I can’t speak to their international signings

I don’t hate it, but they should throw in Edwin Arroyo to even it out

Keith Law chimes in,
Fk no! India is a 👌3B who plays 2B but does not have the bat for third he has had mid 90s ops+ for two years.

That is a player who has next to zero value for the M’s. He is not an upgrade over Jose C.

Miller only goes for a controlled bonafide bat.

capiche👍👌

lol that's cause you hate Ford. I want him to stick around and see how his bat plays out.
