If I was Boston I wouldn't want to trade in in the AL and end up watching that team make the playoffs every year. Inter League wouldn't have much impact, in my opinion. Still? If the offer for Devers was good enough? They wouldn't care, but the rumor is that they weren't interested in trading him inside the division. Of course? That could be some bullshit being spewed around here to take the heat off of the Mariner FO.
You don't think the Boston fo is taking heat? The reason they signed Dever to that contract was the heat they already were under for moves like trading Betts. There was considerable pressure to not do the same thing with Dever. So right in the middle of the season, on a five game winning streak and just after sweeping the Yankees they trade him, and in the second year of his contract. He was supposed to be the face of the franchise for years to come. I think it's unbelievable. I think keeping him outside the AL crossed their minds, they sure as heck weren't trading him to the Yankees
"We were all excited. We just swept the Yankees. We love our team and instead of being excited, I'm devastated," a fan told WBZ. "It's wild. We have traded Mookie Betts and Devers in the last five years. Our two best players and we got, essentially, nothing in return for either of them."
