This is what i've been saying for a week now - the package its going to take to get Suarez is going to be painful. Its not like deadlines past where you give away maybe a top 20 prospect and garbage to get a rental. I saw some idiots package of Williamson and Mastroboni for him - I was like wtf world are you living in??? I saw another post/article that suggested Sloan which I equally laughed at for opposite reasons.

We're going to have to give something like Evans or Hancock with Arroyo to get him.

I posted this mock trade of No. 9 Ryan Sloan, No. 13 Michael Morales and No. 14 Brandyn Garcia for Suarez and Naylor, Seattle or Bust seemed to flip out over it. Seems about the right value to me, Arizona gets their pitching, and the mariners only give up depth pieces, if you are not willing to do that trade then why bother

So I think we are going to get Eugenio. The Astros are now 5 -up on us because they beat the DBacks in the 1st 2 of their series. The DBacks are now 5.5 back in the WC but they have to over take 4 teams that are not in the WC 2 that are 3.5 back and 2 that are 2.5 back. But the WC teams +19,+14, and +9 over .500. Az in now 2 under .500. They have a lot of pitching out Puk, Montgomery, and Burns’s are out and SHelby Miller is out but Miller will be back soon and has a 1.7 BWAR and a 216 ERA+ on the year. He has a 100 ERA+ career but peak seasons as a reliever include a 253 ERA+ in 2013 and as high as a 127 ERA+ as a starter back in a 4.2 WAR 33 start 2015.

Tea leaves: SHelby demonstrates that he is healthy and good and the M’s send Harry Ford as the headliner with a good package for both Saurez and Shelby. It has been going around that they want pitching so maybe Sloan and Garcia?

It has been going around that they need a pitcher? No their Beat writer with insider knowledge of the situation said on Kiro they are primarily interested in near term pitching. That isn't a BS rumor just going around. Two of their starters are going to be FAs so it makes sense. I literally just posted the link in the post just before yourss. Trading Sloan for a rental would be insane. He has been lights out and is a lock to be top 50 next update. And it is moot because he is not near term.

They will want Jurangelo + others and Jerry will say no because they will lose all the Marketing gimmick opportunities they are already planning and he will go to the Cubs with an outside chance he goes to the Yankees if they can put a creative package together.

Fan trades are hilarious, they always come up with trade ideas that the other franchises would laugh at. Seattle Or Bust's trade ideas are like that, dude really thinks that other franchises will give us established MLB players for guys who will never even make an MLB roster. yeah, he's actually the fifth ranked prospect, but for the pair its probably pretty fair. Thought to look at past rental deadline deals. If you consider Suarez a significant piece this is what i came up with. His career might not match but does his season?

Yoenis Céspedes for Michael Fulmer and Luis Cessa
Mark Teixeira for Casey Kotchman
Manny Ramirez for Jason Bay
Carlos Beltran for Octavio Dotel and John Buck

This is why I'd rather have Naylor in a trade if push comes to shove than Geno if you can't get both in a deal.
JUST TO GET SOLANO OFF THIS ROSTER.

You can get Solano off the team by simply promoting Locklear. Solano has a .630 OPS and only plays about 1/3 of the time. Ben has a .600 OPS and has played almost 90% of the time. Geno has well over a .900 OPS and would be a massive upgrade over Ben. Naylor is redundant with Raley because can't hit lefties either and he is a slug that costs the D Backs the game today with his D. I would be ok if they got both but they have said the Geno is the number 1 target and amazingly they are correct this time.

I am not very comfortable with Raley at 1b Defensively. I feel like he is going to cost them some games at some point with his poor defense.
