Ray Wersching from Austria was the guy. He knew that looking up too soon [before impact with the ball] was a NO-NO..so he never "looked up"..at least not until he could hear the crowd's reaction to his kick. He was led from the sidelines by his placeholder to where his spot was on the field..all this time while his head was tilted down and with his eyes closed. According to what the announcers claimed, he never looked at the goal posts...either...?!
