And it's not like Harry Ford is THAT close to being called up. Plus word on the street is that he isn't a very good catcher at all.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 4:30 pmThis is a total head scratcher. We can finally grade the backup catcher position and to me it’s a downgrade for sure. Wtf. Did Murph piss off Jerry or Stanton?Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 9:08 amTom Murphy signs 2-year deal with SF for $8M. Seeing how much salary we've been shedding tells me that we were never going to try and bring Tom back. At least he can go be with Haniger.

I think they probably just didn't want to pay for a guy that's going to be injured all the time.

Cal has been healthy to date but that is very rare for a catcher. Would be just our luck for him to go down now that we don't have jack for a back up.

In the overall record department, having Cal go down, with the roster we currently have, could mean three or four more losses. That could drop us below 70 wins for the season. But hey, we should be grateful and happy that ownership will continue to make millions!

But Murphy's mostly been injured. Not a few injuries here and there, but a lot of injuries. He's missed a ton of time.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 8:25 pmSo if that’s the reason. That could easily happen to Cal and then what. Murph had power ffs

Injury prone arguments are an age old argument that will likely never be answered. Are some human born with more fragile and defective bodies?GL_Storm wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 10:53 pmBut Murphy's mostly been injured. Not a few injuries here and there, but a lot of injuries. Of course but seems odd to me that with professional athletes that is the case. Seems to be random luck for the most part.

Chris Snelling always came to mind when I thought of the term Fragile!D-train wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 10:58 pmInjury prone arguments are an age old argument that will likely never be answered. Murphy missed games due to a broken foot, broken thumb, dislocated shoulder. So he is more prone to being injured?
