What's your take on Julio

I think the HR derby those 2 years in a row messed him up also. The funny thing is - in the derby he wanted pitches low and inside but he never swings at those pitches in a game. His hr's most of the time is to the opposite field. As many have said - his approach is horrific. I think it really is lack of wanting to be great. Yesterday he finally got a weak base hit to get an rbi and when the inning ended he comes to the bench clapping like crazy... I was like -he's saying Look at me - I finally did something good!! Cheer for me!!! He's just frustrating cause he seems like he could be great but he really doesn't seem that bright.

Julio just can't hit in April for some reason. He has a .651 career OPS in March/April. for the rest of the months he has a combined .834 OPS.

Julio also has a private hitting coach, Ovi Diaz, which may be part of the problem, or not.

There's no way to know if Diaz is helping or hurting. Having your own coach has become a trend in the major leagues, and a growing business for those doing the coaching.

I'm curious what his projected salary would've been this year if they didn't sign the 40 year extension.

Somewhere between what Logan Gilbert and George Kirby are getting? That's probably $5-$6Million.

Curious to see how folks view Julio as a player entering his 4th year.

Is he a:

a) bust
b) not a star, but will be a solid player
c) will be a star

I don't know why, but when I think about someone not living up to their potential as a home grown Mariner (as Julio is) I think of Dustin Ackley. All the talent in the world but flopped hard. Julio has more speed and more power, but I feel Julio is getting close to that "flopping" mode after 3+ years. Maybe he's not, but man, with all that hype to be hitting .190? I'm a little worried.
