That's been my point, it doesn't seem to make sense not to be interested in trading the guy you would be replacing unless they weren't planning on replacing him. Seems like they were intent on filling the utility role Donovan does as opposed to replacing young. They managed to get Donovan for Cijntje. What's interesting to me is I wouldn't be surprised really if Cijntje doesn't end up more valuable than Young. It still begs the question, why do they view young as so valuable?

No idea. I wonder if the Cards asked about Young to replace Donovan??Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Feb 27, 2026 2:46 pmThat's been my point, it doesn't seem to make sense not to be interested in trading the guy you would be replacing unless they weren't planning on replacing him. Yeah, which makes perfect sense. They were probably scratching their heads, where's the hard part? If they were asking for Emerson or Anderson then OK. That's the other half of the question, did the Dbacks see Young as so valuable they had to have Him, how about Cijntje? My takeaway from this is the mariners seem to have preferred trading Cijntje over Young. I honestly don't see that as an obvious preferable decision, we shall see
