Fairly confident that he feels less secure in his role than ever.

They have another year like '26 and he's surely out.

When you start saying things like fans wouldn't be in the wrong to say I shouldn't have a job... that's pretty telling.

Hopefully that means a change to the strategy.
There's some intriguing aspects to this deal. Yeah, for as entrenched as i believe dipoto is he can't just roll out more disappointing seasons. I view him more as like another howard Lincoln than as a typical GM. But he's up against it, and first on the list is a manager. That's something he needs to get right this time. He's already committed to a change of direction by claiming they will go outside the organization

I wonder if there's a thread back to his dealing with Mike scioscia? Has that impacted his thought process. I heard a guy, a baseball guy commenting, and this wasn't about dipoto in particular, that if players sense a manager isn't really in charge he will lose the clubhouse. For that reason I didn't believe dipoto would really be that controlling, that he wouldn't do that to Wilson but maybe he was? That could be a hard pill for dipoto to swallow

Yeah I was shocked he said that. He finally sounds like a beaten man. Which is great. lol

Brewers have done very well especially given their market. But I would rather be a Rangers fan who went for it and won it all in 2023. They haven't been good since but almost won the division this season and will always have that WS title.

Sure, but that's only because it worked. On the other hand there's Phillies fans that have been disappointed and a team that looks to be fading

But I can assure you 54% never entered into the minds of the Phillies, Brewers, Rangers and obviously the Dodgers...

Some nerd in the analytics dept. trying to make a name for himself did some research knowing that a seemingly low bar correlating with long term success would get Jerry hot and heavy and Jerry ate it up hook line and sinker.

Sure it didn't, that's what I said when dipoto first brought it up. It sounded to me like something an assistant had shown him and he decided to include it that day. It's interesting, that low bar quality but it's no big deal. It's never really made sense the way he used it or how it gets interpreted. It's not forward looking, it's backward looking. It's not a strategy, it's an evaluation of past performance. Its after the fact. It's interesting the four teams in the playoffs that fit it. But it's not a formula they used to get there

And pennants in 2010 and 2011, so three appearances in the World Series in the last 17 seasons. Make the effort and that's what happens.
