Seager transformed his body and changed his approach. He got off to a rough start, but I think he can be an asset going forward. I've been seeing him going opposite field quite a bit more. That's why I think focusing on watching the development of the core is more important than the on the standings. Why invest in arms for the pen when you can up you're chances to pluck a higher profile prospect that we can use to build up the future core. It's why Houston and Chicago ranked all those seasons. Not only do you get a higher draft slot, but a bigger Bonus Pool from which to spend on in the draft!Hanjag wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 12:20 amCrap, he beat me by more than 7 hours. I agree with whoever said the OF alignment was weird with Haniger in center with Fraley and Kelenic flanking.
The paying to rid yourself of Seager to turn around and commit to a then 32 year old is odd.
I stated my concerns about penciling in Marco G. with his diminished velocity.
I believe I had Marte and JP up the middle but SHed would be a shot at supersub~Marwin G, Mark McKlemore, Zobrist type.
Seager might be another Segura type where he is a good player but there might not be a market for that position.

Re: Projecting 2021
Ideally its Lewis, but if Lewis is still here, I doubt Santana, Haniger and Fraley are all here as well. Maybe DTW? Bishop is fine for a 4th OF. He can come in for defense and pinch run late in games.

sorry but I just do not see much of a relationship between transforming ones body and improved baseball performance, I notice Pablo Sandoval is hitting pretty well again without any transformation that i am aware of. And really if all it took to be a better ballplayer was to lose some weight there be a lot more skinny ballplayers running around one would think

Time will tell. Seager said the purpose for it was to get to pitches that he couldn't last year. Only thing we can do is watch and see. He's already a 0.5 WAR player in just 112 AB's. Let's see where he's at when the season endsDonn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:41 pmsorry but I just do not see much of a relationship between transforming ones body and improved baseball performance, I notice Pablo Sandoval is hitting pretty well again without any transformation that i am aware of. Hopefully Kelenic is ready by OD 2021 but mid season at the latest.........Juliooooo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 12:06 pmYeah. It would be Santana RF, Haniger CF, Fraley LF with Smith or Bishop as 4th OF. Smith might get more in a trade at this point, ship him if he keeps up his hot hitting this year for some pitching. Maybe Santana DH against LHP with Bishop in CF, pushing Haniger back to RF.

oh i am not saying Seager can't be a productive player and if getting in shape helped him then fine, but as a cure for sucking, I don't know...Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:47 pmTime will tell. I don't think he was out of shape to begin with. He has just transformed his body is all. As a current weight lifter, there's a difference between weight lifting, cross fit, and all other forms of working out. He's a lot more slender this season. Let's see what he can do.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:51 pmoh i am not saying Seager can't be a productive player and if getting in shape helped him then fine, but as a cure for sucking, I don't know...Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:47 pmTime will tell. Re: Projecting 2021
Looks to be another busy month coming up for JD. Seager, Leake and Gordon on the block...........
In an interview on “The Front Office” on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM (audio link), Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto reiterated that his trade deadline efforts will be directed towards moving veteran players. Younger and more controllable members of the Seattle roster are less likely to be moved, since they are part of what Dipoto hopes “is a very quick turnaround” within 12-18 months. “Some of the guys that we do have here that attract the most trade attention, particularly guys like Mitch Haniger, they’re critical to our growth. So at some point, you do have to build around something,” Dipoto said.

Whoever the placeholder is, it is temporary, which is why I see Haniger or Santana moved eventually, and Smith moved as soon as they can get anything of value.D-train wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:49 pmHopefully Kelenic is ready by OD 2021 but mid season at the latest.........Juliooooo wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 12:06 pmYeah. Re: Projecting 2021
ok, I am just reluctant to draw an easy correlation between getting in better shape and being able to hit a baseball, hopefully Seager does hit better but whether or not its because he decided to work out who knows. For all the players that show up, in the best shape of their lives, little is usually seen of itSexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:55 pmI don't think he was out of shape to begin with.
