Welp. I've proposed a lot of trades for Polanco over the past while.

Maybe Harmony will reference our conversations about that (he didn't want him)

I suppose he'll be playing 2B and they'll move Rojas to 3B to platoon with Urias. Big mistake if you ask me if that's what they do. Fingers crossed there's more trades to secure 3rd.
There isn't going to be any more trades. They were going with Urias at 3B from the second they traded for him. They didn't trade Campbell to pay $5M for a bench guy. Rojas put up almost 1 WAR in just 134 PAs. He can platoon with Urias if need be.
Rojas, Urias, and Polanco give us redundancy in the infield, which we've not had since I don't know when.

Small sample size, but he has raked at T-mobile. 13-31 for a .419 Avg and a .921 OPS. Also he has hit better on the road than at home for his career which should make it easier to transfer career norms while coming to a team with a pitchers park.
Wild Garver also has 31 ABs but 13 less hits. lol

What was his WAR hitting for a 70 wRC+ at 3B for the DBacks last year?

I just don't like wet noodles taking up power spots.

The trade hasn't stopped them from potentially trading one of Miller or Woo...
They're viewing last season as an outlier due to the injuries. He hit 39 home runs the previous two seasons

There is no redundancy. There is a 3B a 2B and a bench bat.

They aren't trading Woo or Miller.
Dipoto, the Mariners’ president of baseball operations, made the possibility of a young starter being traded this offseason seem even less likely when he talked to reporters on Jan. 5, shortly after the team made a multi-player trade with the San Francisco Giants.

“The fact that we were able to go out and put together deals, be it free agency or trade, that we feel like we built a complete team without tapping into those young members of our rotation, I want to say it’s a bit of an offseason achievement for us. I didn’t know if it was going to be possible,” Dipoto said. “We never liked the way it looked. We are a team that we have developed a lot of those players we’re emotionally tied to and invested in.

“The more we’ve wrapped our arms around the idea of just leaning into what we do best, which is we pitch, and this is still a fairly young team that can do a lot of interesting things. It will always be central to that pitching staff, which, obviously, there hadn’t been a lot of change to the 13 (pitchers on the staff). We’re really glad that that same group is here and really anticipate that that will be what it looks like when the season begins.”

Not talking about Urias. Talking about Rojas.

I don't have a lot of faith in Urias... cool if they do. But I'd prefer if they got a legit bat at the position.

It's just one of those positions that you really want a lot of offense from. Avg wRC+ for 3B's who played at least 100 games last year was 110... there were 2x massive outliers or it woulda been like 120...

Seems silly if you ask me.

Could get a real bat to put this offense over the top w. one of em... rare time we're operating at the top of the market to pry legit offense away.

I'd trade Miller or Woo for a Gorman or Hayes type tomorrow.

Jorge Polanco will probably be the best-hitting second baseman the Mariners have fielded since Robinson Cano, who was hit with his 80-day PED suspension in 2018 two months after Polanco was hit with his 80-day PED suspension.

Jorge Polanco has a new fan.

Yep, seems like the most obvious moves in the world.

But, it would require $ to sign Snell to replace one of the kids, so we have our answer.

Personally I'd rather they had gotten a good LF instead of another 2B (I have zero faith in Raley), but it's another incremental improvement.
